The police chief gives Renee her badge back and tells her she can decide what she wants to do. She decides to lead a cold case unit in Robbery-Homicide.
Renee gets Harry to come back as a volunteer. She knows some unsolved cases haunt him. One is the murder of the four family members -- the Gallaghers. Ballard must clear the murder and rape of a council member's family decades ago. The councilman pushed for the cold case team, and Renee needed to find the culprit. Solving the case would go far in proving the value of such a team.
