Number 19 in the series, and so heavy with family relationships that any new reader would be lost. I think most of Deborah's huge family makes at least a cameo appearance. Which means the mystery takes a bit of a backseat to the aforesaid family - but if you want to know what to serve at a BBQ, take notes. Lots of space given also to commenting on who ends up taking care of elderly parents, with an amusing subplot about a dishonest antiques dealer. The mystery is interesting enough, taking the reader down a number of side paths before landing on the villain.

I just love Margaret Maron! This book was a little different than her others, but equally enjoyable. I have both an elderly mother and an even older (99 year old) mother-in-law so the issues discussed really hit home.
