I don't even know where to begin. Desire Unchained was absolutely fantastic! Ione's second effort in her Demonica series was even better than the first. The story is about Shade and Runa. Runa was a human female that Shade was involved with in the first book. They come together again through the machinations of a psycho demon. Shade learns that Runa was attacked by a warg (aka werewolf) and has become one. Runa works for the government and is sent to learn about the demon hospital that Shade and his brothers run.
Though dark at times, I loved the relationship between Shade and Runa. They both had some serious issues to deal with, but the resolutions were deep and true. Their attraction to each other was fierce and hot. This author brings a level of realness to her paranormal world and I was sucked in from the beginning. There was so much suspense, action, humor; you name it, this story had it. It was extremely difficult to put this down and I highly recommend it. I cannot wait to get my greedy little hands on the next one.

Book Two in the Demonica paranormal romance series. Shade is an Incubus Demon, and Runa was the Human woman whose heart he had broken. They are unwittingly reunited by an evil, unknown, revenge seeking enemy. But Runa is not the same sweet, timid, naive Human that Shade remembers, and now she knows what he is. This is a great story. Great plot, lots of action. The book includes many interesting, tormented secondary characters, whose stories beg to be told. Great characters, humor, lots of action (and violence), hot sex scenes and a compelling romance. Fans of JR Ward will enjoy this series. I'm anxiously anticipating the next installment.

Reader beware, this book is not for the light hearted romance reader. There was some serious heat and a dark edge to this story that was not for the faint of heart. But, having said that, I think I loved it. This series just keeps getting better and better. The author has done a terrific job of both character building and world building. Although I think she did a better job of the character building with Tayla and Eidolon (book 1), she still made me fall in love with Slade and Runa and I couldn't put this one down. I can't wait until the next in the series. Great read, if you like your romance with a dark, urban, paranormal edge.

Just when you think the Demonica series can't get ANY better?! WRONG! IT'S BETTER! This book has all of the original characters from the first book: Tayla, Eidolon, Shade, Wraith, Kynan, Gem, Luc... and intertwines book 1's plot with book 2! This book had me with chapter and the plot just being there. No build up, no 100 pages of blag, blag, blag (my take on blah and gag). Nope! It is right there!
It made me wanna cry, it made me smirk, it made me go WTF!? It was so good I can't type anymore, I am shaking with such excited happiness! IT WAS SO GOOD! I opened my living room window and screamed it was so good! And I just want more! That ould be some of the shaking. I WANT MORE! I want to see Runa and Shade together FOREVER.. Just keep writing it! NEED TO SEE IT!
Someone.. PLEASE call HBO.. This series NEEDS to replace True Blood! PLEASE!? This series makes me want to watch! I want it to be a show/miniseries/movie.. I don't care! I NEED MORE!

First off, this is not for the light romance reader or someone who has trouble reading about some off-beat sexual practices. There is some consensual bdsm, but it might be much for someone who hasn't read such things before. The bdsm itself was strange. I'm not averse to reading about it, but it didn't make any sense to do it for the reasons given in the story. It's also not enjoyable if the dom doing it isn't into it and clearly this dom didn't want to do it so for those reasons, the whole scene made me cringe. If you want good bdsm, read one of Joey Hill's books.
There's much more action in this second book in the Demonica series. You have vampires, shape shifters, weres, demons, humans, evil humans, fallen angles, and even a fairy or two. If you like the series, you can't skip this book although it's not the best book in the series. The humor and light-hearted interactions in the first book are missing here.
This is the story of Shade, the brother of the hero, in the first book. Shade is another gorgeous humanoid demon who works as a paramedic. He's unfortunately under a curse that will haunt him if he ever falls in love. I have mixed feelings about the book. I enjoyed it enough to finish it over two days. However, it's not as good as the first Demonica book. There's something missing here. The heroine, a human who was once involved with the hero, is unlikable, at least to me. She's a timid mousy woman who turns into an angry bitter heroine. I just didn't find her as compelling as Tayla from the first book. There's quite a bit of character stupidity. If the hero had been more honest with the heroine about his curse, a lot of trouble could have been avoided.
For those who get turned off by cheating from the hero -pass on this book. The hero is a cheater.
