Is this a cozy? or isnt it? The cover isnt like your typical cozy mystery. All the isbn version of this book have mushrooms on it. Makes you wonder what the mushrooms are all about. If you read it you will find out.
It was a cozy in the sense that it was mild. It has a female amateur slueth. She does have a dog. No sex scenes. Nothing too graphic.
BUT She doesnt fall in love with the local police officer and again the cover doesnt lend itself to the cozy genre. I dont really think this was intended to be a cozy.
I think both mystery readers and cozy readers will enjoy this book. I sure learned a few things about nature, hunting, and mushrooms. I also felt like I was hiking in Michigan, as this was set in Wisconsin and very well written so you felt like you were there. Keep in mind I have never been to Wisconsin but when she described the scenery, I could see it, it was like Michigan with the birch trees, snow, dunes and lakes.
I am going to get book 2 and see if I like it even more.

A fairly good read. Not a can't put it down story however it keeps a storyline with a few minor bits of confusion.
