In her last book, we had to wait forever before the victim got knocked off. Thank God in this one he gets killed early on so we're not kept waiting. And think God too the dead man is a lawyer, and an unpopular one at that. As Shakespeare has Dick the Butcher say in one of his plays, "First thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers." It's one of the reasons I became an entomologist. How many novels can you think of where the villain is an evil entomologist?

And once again, Heyer parades out a slew of suspects. Inspector Hemingway patiently crosses them off his list and finally arrests the one we should have known early on.

Unlikable characters. Plot crawls. Only thing this book is good for is putting you to sleep.
