Devil's Punch - Corine Solomon, Bk 4
Author: Ann Aguirre
The power swelled inside me, burning, hurting, but I let it center me. Pain means I'm still here, fighting. I envisioned it swelling in my hand in a seething rush, gathering, gathering, and then I sent it out on my resolve like a dark and winged thing riding the magickal wind. — As a handler, Corine Solomon can touch any object and l...  more »

I have read all four books to date. I love this series, but that being said sometimes I question her motives. It's an entertainig book and I love all the characters, but her treatment of said characters, even the men she proclaims to love, borderlines on manupulation to the point she uses them. And no matter who's she with that seems to be her center focus. And it becomes apparent that at some points she enjoys hurting them or toying with them. But the stories are very interesting and include a whole bunch of paranormal things, people with gifts, demons, ghosts, angels, and it's an interesting mix. All in all I loved this series, I couldn't put them down. Corine is interesting and entertaining and it's enjoyable watching her grow into her powers. She does make mistakes, but i think deep down she ultimately is a good person. And she does try to save to the ones she loves.

I enjoyed this series overall because Corine's gift is so unique. This was my least favorite book because Corine wasn't really herself and it was set almost entirely in Sheol. There was lots of bloody action but less creativity with reading objects.

I enjoy Ms. Aguirre's books and this one was no exception. There were several places where I wondered where she was going with this character and how she would ever get her back, but it concluded with a believable ending and is even possibly better than the first in this series.

Corine Solomon is one of my favorite characters. The relationships she has with others seems genuine and she will literally go to hell and back for a friend. Ann Aguirre has an interesting concept of hell and demons. Only Ms Aguirre could make you care about a demon.
