THis story was interesting, but there was so much unnecessary background information that had nothing to do with the story that it was odd. Many chapters in the beginning of the book are talking about a horrible heat wave, this was very interesting, but it had nothing to do with the story, this is done again when talking about a train wreck. It just seemed quite odd to include these things with such clarity and then have no link to the main story.
