Diaper Free! is the best book available about Elimination Communication or Infant Pottying. It provides parent with a very natural, sensitive and respectful approach to going diaper-free.

Most of the world does not have the luxury of diapers, and so follow an Elimination Communication (EC) approach similar to what's taught in this book.

Our son is now 8 months old and we have followed the diaper-free approach since birth, and we rarely have any misses. Going diaper free is a great alternative to waiting upwards of 2-3 years before potty training a toddler. EC is about respect for the earliest efforts of communication our babies make. A GREAT READ.

This book provides a good basis for Natural Infant Hygiene, and will get you started on the right path. However, I do like some of the other books out there on this topic better. It is informational though, so happy pottying!

Diaper Free provides a LOT of interesting background information about EC (elimination communication) and has been encouraging to me in various ways. The mention of unassisted birth, breastfeeding, babywearing, co-sleeping, etc was all very comforting to me because I feel rather alone in those different matters and it encourages me to see that I am not the only one who does them. Also, the information she presents about disposable diaper marketing in the US, toilet training myths, and EC in other countries is VERY eye-opening and fascinating. The first couple of chapters discuss infant care as nature intended and intuition. Another chapter discusses the physiology of elimination - highly interesting and provides a different aspect as to why EC works. There is also a chapter about special situations such as single parents, adopted babies, children with special needs, parents with physical challenges, bed wetting, etc. This book is very thorough and goes beyond just the matter learning and implementing EC. If you're looking for a very informative, deep book about EC that examines it from different directions then this is the one to get. If you're needing something more practical and simple to reference, I recommend The Diaper Free Baby book by Christine Gross-loh. Both books are definitely worth reading, in my opinion.
