This book is written as the pages of a diary. Each month's entries are begun by an excerpt from George Orwell, 'Bookshop Memories.' The author generally comments on the appropriateness of the quote in relation to his venture as a bookshop owner.

The book is charming and quirky. Some of the antics of his employees are hilarious; sometimes I wonder what the author is doing employing such flakes. Anyone who has dealt with the public will recognize the absurdity of some of the author's customers -- and their rudeness.

I must admit that I was disappointed that the author didn't give a short review of the books he mentions reading throughout his expose' of the second-hand book business. I also think that the author is correct in his attitudes about the biggest bookstore on the Internet.

It is scary to see just how close to the edge (financially speaking) brick-and-mortar bookdealers are in today's market.

Utterly charming and funny. A day by day diary of being a bookseller at Scotland's largest used book store. Made me want to be a bookseller. Made me want to go to Wigtown, Scotland.
