I used to read Rizzoli&Isles a long time ago, don't why I gave it up----until this one
I didn't care for this one at all, I thought the autopsy too graphic(which is why I don't read other books about ME's as the main character), I don't watch the tv show because I just couldn't 'swallow' the actors
This is focused on 'big cats' and I didn't find it that interesting, as it went along it really wasn't the kind of 'thriller' I wanted to read
Glad I got it from the library so I can return it!

This is a good one. I did think it was a bit slow in the beginning, but it got good in the middle to the end. If you like the other Rizzoli and Isles books, you will like this one.
My wife watches a great deal of television. She discovered Rizzoli & Isles on TNT. We started watching it and liked it. As usual, I then looked up the author of the books upon which it is based. I ordered the first one from Paper Back Swap. I liked it and proceeded to put together the entire series. Each book has an interesting twist, or several. As a retired police sergeant, detective, corporal, and patrolman, I have had the opportunity to interview some psychopaths and I find Gerritsen's villains to be believable. Gerritsen has sort of a recurring theme through several of the later books and this one brings that to a head. If you like mysteries, these books will satisfy.
Homicide Detective Jane Rizzoli and Medical Examiner Maura Isles are working a new murder. Taxidermist Leon Gott was found hanging upside-down in his garage. He had been gutted just like the deer hanging in his study. While Jane looks for leads in the case, Maura begins to believe that they may have a serial killer in their midst. She finds other murders that could be tied to this one...including the disappearance of a group of tourists on safari in Africa.
This book was kind of uneven. It was told in two parts. We have the current investigation into the murder in Boston, and we have the first-person point-of-view of the only person to survive a safari in the bush of Botswana. I found the safari sections of the book very interesting and suspenseful. The investigation into Gott's homicide moved rather slowly. And, I did not like once again delving into Maura's problems with her mother. I'm totally bored with that subject.
So, even though the safari kept me glued to the book, other parts of it weren't very riveting. I guessed the killer at about the halfway point of the book. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

I'm a long time fan of Tess Gerritsen's books and was growing weary of the Rizzoli/Isles trope of either character winding up in harm's way by the end, because an intelligent readership knows that nothing will happen to them (unless it's the end of the series, of course!), hence the tension and suspense would tank immediately.
I'm happy to say there wasn't really much of that in DIE AGAIN and I think the book is definitely the better for it.
The mystery here had to do with a group on safari in Botswana, Africa. All but one of them is killed and Jane and Maura discover a connection to recent murders happening on their own turf.
You get a first-person POV from the one surviving member of the safari group and the story flashes back and forth between the present day investigation, and what took place six years prior during the Botswana trip.
I was on the edge of my seat as usual with the mystery of who was behind it all and why. However, the ending was disappointing as to the why, since you don't get any dialogue at all from the murderer once this person was revealed. It would have been more satisfying to hear from him and have his POV as to what he'd been thinking, etc. As it stands, the narrative treated it as incidental to the investigation, which made it a less than satisfying wrap up.
So overall, I did enjoy DIE AGAIN and give it a solid B. I look forward to the next Rizzoli & Isles book.

Another winner! I really like when "myths" are used as the story line. Makes for a different read.
