This is the first book that Linda Howard writes in first person, similar to Janet Evanovich. This book was hilarious and extremely fun to read. You will be laughing out loud.
Helpful Score: 6
I love both the heroine Blair and the hero Wyatt. They make a well matched couple. They will make you laugh while their romance played out with a suspenseful story of someone trying to kill Blair. Supporting characters like the heroine's mom just add to the enjoyment of the story.

Just couldn't get into it. :(

Loved, loved, loved this book! The male and female lead characters were great together. They were funny, bratty, clever and smart enough to recognize true love when they saw it! I can't wait to read the sequel Drop Dead Gorgeous.
Helpful Score: 2
This novel and its partner, "Drop Dead Gorgeous" are totally different than anything else by Linda Howard. You will love the spunky heroine, and she's hysterical. Since the story is told in first person, her personality and the way she faces life are right out there! The hero is masculine, sexy, and at a loss most of the time as to how to handle his headstrong girlfriend. And the suspense part of the story is good, too!

Blair Mallory lives the good life. She's pretty, confident, and the owner of a thriving upscale fitness center. But in the shadow of success, a troubled member of the club develops a strange fixation on her, imitating her style and dress. Matters take a darker turn when the look-alike is shot dead -- and Blair witnesses the horror.
This is definitely a good read. Aside from looks she is smart, and witty. And she is her own woman. While reading this book, I was trying to figure out who the killer was. I was almost right. This book is definitely a good read.

The first person narration would have worked better had it not been by a semi-valley girl ex cheerleader worried about matching her underwear. The plot was okay, but really didn't make much sense in the end.

One of the cutest written books I've read in a long time. It's not the usual type of book from Linda Howard. I loved the book and know you will too. You will laugh out loud while reading it.

Excellent! 1st in a series.

Funny funny funny. A nice spunky chick book. I couldn't devour it fast enough.

Loved this book. Hilarious!! 4 Stars. Can't really relate to the main character. The reason for Wyatt ditching Blair after a few dates, and then realizing 2 years later that he can't live without her doesn't make much sense... especially after he gives her the reason he did it. Still a light, fun read.
BLAIR MALLORY IS A CHARACTER THAT WE WOULD ALL LOVE TO HAVE AS A FRIEND. SHE IS FUN AND A GREAT RIDE. HER CHARACTER IS COMPLEX AND THOUGHT PROVOKING. SHE LETS OUT A LITTLE TOO MUCH INTO A WOMAN'S THOUGHT PROCESS, WE DON'T WANT MEN TO UNDERSTAND US TOO MUCH, THAT WOULD TAKE ALL THE FUN OUT OF IT.
Excellent Linda Howard novel. Very different from her other books, but I still enjoyed it very much.
mystery and romance.

Very enjoyable book. Blair Malloy is the owner of the very successful gym, Great Bods. When leaving work one night, she witnesses a murder in her parking lot. The problem is that the victim was a "copy cat" and she copied Blair..her hair do, her clothes, even her car. So who was suppose to die that night?
This book also has some great laughs in it and the scenes between Blair and police Lt. Wyatt Bloodsworth are great!

I loved this book. Couldn't put it down.
Good, fast read. The main character of this book reminded me somewhat of Stephanie Plum.
Linda Howard scores again! This is a contemporary romantic suspense story. The heroine, in particular, is portrayed in an interesting and likeable way.
I LOVE Linda Howard, so I loved this book!
I love this book! I was doubtful when I saw it had a touch of humor, not certain that's what I wanted from Linda Howard. But this was wonderful. Blair Mallory is wickedly funny and smart as a whip. I could hardly wait to read the next book!
What would you think if you saw "yourself" killed before your eyes? Was it mistaken identity or just a mistake?
The first person perspective of this novel is new to Linda Howard, but quite well done and extremely enjoyable!
Blair (the protagonist) quickly becomes a likable and quirky friend. As an outdoorsy, non-shopper, I was not predisposed to liking her high-maintenance personality but Blair's independence and strength quickly won me over! Linda Howard has outdone herself with this character. This is the first of two (so far) in the Blair Mallory series and I for one hope there will be more! Wyatt is a great male lead. Howard seems to excel at creating flawed yet likable characters that have an unexpected depth. She challenges your perception of happily ever after, yet still delivers one.
A light, highly enjoyable read - Blair and Wyatt have great chemistry!

Great Book! Quick, easy read.
This was a great read. I really enjoyed it.
I bought the 2nd book in this series (Drop Dead Gorgeous) on a whim at a library book sale and totally LOVED it. I had to read the first one and it didn't disappoint. If you're a Janet Evanovich fan, these two books are a great fit for you. Funny, sexy and hard to put down. I highly recommend them both!

This book was not good enough to finish. From page one the main character, Blair Mallory, was annoying me beyond belief. Was this a grown woman or an adolescent talking?
I didn't like the "chatty" writing style or the flaky and juvenile heroine enough to spend 250 pages with her. It's pretty bad when you don't care whether someone kills her or not, right? LOL
Very disappointed in Linda Howard with this one. Can't recommend it. Instead, try ALL THE QUEEN'S MEN or NOW YOU SEE HER.

This is a book I originally bought in paperback. I found it very funny indeed, and very different from Linda Howard's competent FBI thrillers.
I loaned my copy out so often that I eventually lost track of it, so am delighted to get it in hardbound- which I shall not loan out.
The book is not only funny, but it's actually pretty wise. Basic premise is former cheerleader, Blair Mallory, ends up, after a sudden divorce, the owner of a gym called Great Bods. She has a run in with a customer who is not allowed to renew her membership due to multiple member complaints.
When the now ex-member waits outside the gym after closing, Blair is surprised to witness the ex-member's murder. The question is, since the ex-member copied everything about Blair down to hair color and skin lotion, who was the intended victim?
Enter Lt. Bloodsworth, the hot, hunky testosterone-poisoned detective, who is determined to get her.
What I particularly enjoyed was how she didn't hesitate to take advantage of the "dumb blonde" stereotype if it suited her purposes. She is smart, very funny, and while high-maintenance, has a *very* solid head on her shoulders.
You will either love or hate this book. I loved it.

I have read all of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels and really enjoy them...I love a story that never ends and keeps you entertained through different story plots. I am so excited to have found another series that keeps on going....Linda Howard's Blair Mallory series is full of humor and romance and suspense all in one....This is not your typical steamy romance novel though and is written in first person which is very easy and fast to read and is different for me, but I liked the character telling her story and Wyatt is very sexy. I am very excited to read the next books. Definitely recommend!!!
Thank goodness for someone reccomending this book...it was a page turner!
This was an easy breezy read as are most of her books. The plot was a little unbelievable but all in all it was a nice easy book to read.
Written in the first person by a southern "belle" and former cheerleader. A good mystery and love story. I want to be Blair if only to get or try to get my own way. Lots of fun and a great summer read.
Wow! This is now my absolute #1 favorite book of all time! I laughed and laughed. I've loved Linda Howard's books for a while, love her writing style, but this one really did it for me. It's written in first person, which some people don't like to read. I think like Blair (although I'm nothing like her - go figure), so reading from her point of view was a treat. If you like suspense, humor, great writing and some hot scenes, you will like this book. If you liked Mr. Perfect and Open Season also by Howard, you will LOVE this book!
Linda Howard is one of my new favorite authors I've been reading lately...everything I've picked up of hers is great!
Interesting characters, good dialogue, moves at a fast pace. Enjoyable book.
First book by Linda Howard that I've read and I couldn't put it down!
A page-turner
Blair Mallory witnessed a murder. The victim was Nikki Goodwin, a woman who had begun dressing like Blair and even colored her hair the same shade. In fact, she could pass for Blair's double. Police Lt. Wyatt Bloodsworth rushes to the scene when he hears about the murder. He had dated Blair previously and feared she was the victim. The media puts Blair on the front page and told the public that she witnessed the murder. So, it's no surprise when the next gunshot Blair hears is directed at her. Nikki had been a case of mistaken identity. Now Wyatt and Blair must figure out who wants to kill her before they actually succeed.
Very funny light-hearted mystery romance. This book is written in the first-person, but don't let that stop you. Blair's list of Wyatt's transgressions are hilarious. My rating: 5 Stars.

ver good book
I loved!! this book. I'd have given it 6 stars if I could. The action was fast paced, the dialogue was sparkling and the writing kept me on the edge of my seat. Everything about it was just perfect and I can't recommend it highly enough.
There is no better romantic thriller writer than Linda Howard. Brand new book.

Totally different for Linda Howard. This was hilarious!
Hilarious! One of the best I've read - you'll laugh out loud reading this!
Cute. Different from most Linda Howard's book. Funny.
This book is not her usual style. It is more like chick lit. I'm sure some people will love it but it isn't my thing at all.
This is a done in a different format that Howard usually uses. I found it refreshing and so darn funny I couldnt stop laughing. It is so worth the read!
The book was a decent read. Not one of my favorites from Howard.
This was very enjoyable.. even though its a murder mystery, it had an element of humor consistantly throughout the book and it was a very quick read! Really enjoyed it!
Blair Mallory lives a good life intill one day her look-a-like is shot, then she is in the spotlight.

I REALLY enjoyed reading this book. Blair & Wyatt were great together. I haven't laughed out loud reading a book in along time.
Linda Howard does it again!
Linda Howard does it again!
High maintenance woman re-meets alpha male- killer on the loose. Lots of suspense, shooting and typical Linda Howard steaminess
romance and mystery what could be bettter!
Really fun, cute read. Reminded me a lot of Janet Evonavich's books.
Is she died? Will she be died? You have to read this one to find out!
It was an amusing quick read. Not very "deep" in the thriller department, but the characters made you laugh.
Instant "keeper shelf" material! I loved it!
This is the first Linda Howard book I have read. It is awesome...funny, fast paced...characters are lovely and the book sizzles with the chemistry between this couple. I highly recommend this book. I am now looking into other Linda Howard books.
Not one of my favorite by Linda Howard.
very good thriller-but with a sense of humor.
This isn't like on of Linda Howard's suspense books. It's funny. Reminds me of a Jennifer Crusie book.
Howard brings her usual high level of intelligence and flair to her latest tale of romantic suspense (after Kiss Me While I Sleep). Successful health club owner Blair Mallory is the only witness when a troublemaking member gets shot behind her North Carolina gym. Since the killer may not realize that Blair hasn't seen his face, she needs police protectionbut her difficulties only escalate when Lt. Wyatt Bloodworth, with whom she had a short but intense relationship several years earlier, is assigned to the case. Still smarting from Wyatt's unexplained rejection, Blair resists his macho self-confidence; Wyatt in turn is irritated by her refusal to follow orders, even as he succumbs to her feisty charm and potent sexuality. Their investigations promptly reveal a major suspect, but the attacks on Blair continue even after the alleged killer is apprehended. As they consider a new array of possible murderers, the pair (aided and abetted by their colorful families) conduct a spirited battle of the sexes. Blair's chirpy asides on everything from underwear to men will wear on readers by the middle of the book, when the plot's momentum stalls. Still, Blair's surface fluffiness and underlying savvy make her an engaging narrator, and the book's witty Southern "take" on womanhood will amuse readers in the region and beyond.

Excellent read - humor reminded me of Janet Evanovich.
Another great book by Linda Howard.
Great read!
Woman's look-a-like stalker is murdered. Trying to investigate on her own, she comes up against the police lieutenant, one she has a past with.
not as good as Howard's other suspense novels, but pretty good romance novel.
Linda Howard always a great read.

A bit lighter than Linda Howard's usual fare, but still entertaining and worth a read.
Loved this book! The main charaters were hilarious! I already started the second book.
Light and easy read
One of my favorite books. I bought the audiobook so I could listen to it on trips.
Linda Howard is my all time favorite author. I do prefer her older books to her new ones. But they are still great reads. I wish she would go back to some historical writings.
good book
I have read many of her books
