I have to be honest...this was a book I kept putting down in favor of another, and eventually, I did pick back up and finish. My opinion of the book improved towards the end. Oh well, I did read the whole thing, but I won't be reading another by this author.

This book is part of a series. While I'm sure that you'll be able to enjoy the book by itself, I really recommend you read the first two books (Bitten and Stolen) first.

While I loved the first two books in this series, I didn't like this one. This is about Paige, the witch we meet in the second book. Paige's mother has died and now Paige wants to take her place as leader of one of the world's most powerful oganizations-The American Coven of Witches. People who like stories about witches love this one.

I love Kelley Armstrong's books. Love them. I'm fascinated that she can do witches so well, as she does in this novel, when she started off with the best werewolf novel I've read (Bitten). Highly recommend.

I have read Armstrong's first two books about werewolves, but I am not a big fan of witch fiction, so I began this book with a little apprehension. Let me assure you, Armstrong rose to the occasion with a wonderful book. Her characters are very likeable and the story line flows well and moves quickly. I would highly recommend this book, and the author, to anyone who enjoys reading supernatural fiction. She truly does justice to the genre. I can't wait to get started on the next Paige Winterbourne installment: Industrial Magic.

I wanted to like this story. I have a few online friends who recommended it. It wasn't terrible but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Paige's character seemed vapid. It just didn't appeal to me. Savannah seemed like a brat. Maybe that's really how teenagers act now but she would have gotten a firm boot in the back side. And I'll admit it may have been because I couldn't get invested in the characters, the story line seemed to drag a bit and just seemed unoriginal.

Paige Winterbourne is the new leader of the American Coven of Witches now that her mother is dead, and she is having enough trouble with that, and with trying to raise 13 year old super-powerful novice witch Savannah Levine. Now a sorcerous Cabal is trying to demand custody of Savannah. The Coven is too scared of being found out to help her, but along comes mysterious young sorcerer Lucas Cortez, begging to help out... Third of the Women of the Otherworld books.

I bought the first book in the series "Bitten" 2 years ago. I started reading it, but was kinda lost. So, 4 months ago I picked it back up and read it. AND LOVED IT! The more I got into the book, the more I loved it. And so I started reading the rest. I couldnt get enough of these woman and there sexy men!! "Dime Store Magic" is a great book, it tells of Paige and Lucas, who fight so that Paige can keep Savannah as her ward. They get into a bit of trouble, but do see themselves out of it! And continue on into the next book. I love this series and plan to get them all! :)

Smart, sexy and supernatural: meet the women of the Otherworld. Paige, a witch, young and always considered too rebellious to take over the American Coven of Witches. But her antics are nothing compared to those of her charge--an orphan who is all too willing to use her budding powers for evil...and evil is all too willing to claim her. For this girl is being pursued by a dark faction of the supernatural underworld. They are willing to do anything to woo the powerful neophyte, including commit murder-and frame Paige for the crime. It has half-demons, vampires, werewolves, sorcerers and witches...all the elements any afficianado of the supernatural could want. Well written, engaging first book of a series.

Witches, Warlocks and a great story!
This is the first of two Paige stories written at the time of this review. Obviously, set in the same world as the Bitten/Stolen books, this book focuses on Paige and her young ward Savannah in the aftermath of the events in Stolen. At the first reading, I was disappointed that the focus was shifting from Elena, but subsequent readings and later books have made me rethink my opinion. Another well-written, fast paced book from Armstrong, but don't get it thinking you'll see Elena as a main character again. That won't happen for another couple of books.

Okay, I have to say that I was not a Paige fan until this book. I guess when you are writing mainly about Elena, Paige just pales in comparison! Paige is less whiny with the beginning of her own set of stories from the Women of the Otherworld. I love the historical twists in the book as well as the insight we gain into the paranormal world's relationship between their different races. Keep these books coming!

This series is really good and an easy read. It follows the stories of the women of the underworld. Most of the characters flow from one book to the next. If you enjoy the paranormal, this is a great series to read. Kelly Armstrong puts a great voice to woman in this entire series. She shows the strong side. Read the series in order so that you do not miss a beat.

Dime Store Magic is the third book of the Women of the Otherworld series. This book follows the story of Paige Winterbourne, a witch that we meet in the second book, Stolen. Although I missed Elena & Clay in this one, I still enjoyed it immensely! Would highly recommend.
Definitly worth reading if your interested in the entire series.
I have read most of the books in this series and this one did have the slowest start.
I liked the way the book ended because it was the high point of this part of Paige's story.

At first, I had a bit of trouble getting into the book. Most likely because Paige wasn't one of my favorite characters, but after a quick few chapters, I became interested in her life. I liked that she reexamined her view on good and evil and decided to chose for herself. I found myself really enjoying this book more than I first thought.

I love this entire series, I've read it a number of times and highly recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy/supernatural but is tired of "young adult" novels. Great Book!
from amazon...
Once again Kelley Armstrong succeeds in dazzling her readers with her outstanding, well-crafted plot and numerous new characters - as well as bringing back some old friends, (and foes), from former novels. Her portrayal of the sometimes troubled relationship between Paige, herself a young woman without too much life experience, and adolescent Suzannah, is extremely realistic and often moving. Paige's frustration with the narrow-minded Coven Elders, and their refusal to leave their old and ineffectual ways behind and move forward for the betterment of all, is described with maturity and sensitivity. The novel is chock full of excitement, adventure and romance.

Fantasy and lust. Odd characters made it difficult to "get into" this book. Similar to Laurel K. Hamiltons' Vampire/raiser of the Dead/supernatural volumes.Ok read..just not a favorite!!

I was personally disappointed by this book. I could not get into the story and the scenes changed so fast it was distracting. I have nothing against this genre (or I wouldn't have picked it up to read in the first place), but I suggest that unless you are a real fan of witch craft as fictional subject matter, then you could probably skip this book and not miss a thing. Gutted cats hanging from a tree your kinda thing? Not me.
Enjoyed the book, but not as much as Bitten and Stolen. Still a very good "read".
