I wanted to love this book SO much, but I just didn't. It had an incredibly slow start--150 pages in & I was still bored.

It picked up speed by the end, and I was happy with Rifter & Gwen's story when it finished.

However, the author spends a LOT of time "world building" & it tends to drag the book down. Not overly original paranormal set-up--sort of a "been there, read that" feel to the whole book.

I am interested in reading number 2, since I did get more pulled in reading the last 50 pages or so...but I can't say I'll have any sleepless nights if I forget to read book 2.

Interesting world building, but it was simultaneously repetitive and confusing. It felt like it took too many retellings of the back story because the sides were constantly changing. I thought maybe it wasn't book one and that was part of my problem, but it is the first in the series. However, Dire Warning is an enovella advertised in the back of this book. I don't know if it comes before or after this book.

This book started ok but slow. Too much repeated information and it took me twice as much time to finish it. I'm interested to know what the other dire members story would be but not sure if I'll give the time to read it.

Not bad but not a keeper.
When I get into a good book, I can't put it down. This book took me 2 weeks to get through because I just (for whatever reason) couldn't focus on everything.
There was so much going on in this book, with so many new characters that the author was introducing to her new series, that I had a hard time following it at times. A little TOO much going on.
It had a Black Dagger Brotherhood feel with the small Dire wolf pack relating as brothers of different personalities.
Towards the last 100 pages I started skimming the book. I may attempt the 2nd book in hopes it gets better.

This was the first time I've read S.Tyler so I am not used to her writing style. I love the paranormal in this story but the biker part even better but I really wanted to give this a 5 stars but it did jump around, I would have liked a glossary to understand some of what was going on with some terminology and I felt like I was missing something through out the story and still don't know what it is.

I have to agree with other reviews about this being a snoozer. I couldn't get into the book at all, even after the first 150 pages but trudged through it. There just wasn't a story - I couldn't tell you what the book was about. I also did not like the copycat writing from the J.R. Ward series Black Dagger Brotherhood. Stephanie doesn't do it well. I really like her Harlequin stories but this attempt at a wolf 'thing' is bad. I would not read any more books in this series.
