Another Scottoline masterpiece. Just the right mix of law, mystery and action to keep you turning pages until the very end.

Cate Fante is strong and sexy and wears designer suits like overpriced armor. She's just become a judge but leads a dark double life that she hides from everyone. Her cover is blown when a high-profile case in her courtroom takes a stunning turn. Overnight the tabloids tell her secret, her boyfriend dumps her, and her new career hangs in tatters. But Cate's troubles are only beginning. An enemy no one anticipated sends her running for her life, and she'll have to fight her way back to the truth.... or die trying.

This was a pretty good murder mystery with a surprise ending. First book by this author that I've read - I like it enough to read more.

The plot and characters are just so fascinatinng that it is easy to get caught up with this book. It is a very easy read and quite entertaining. Yes, their are parts that are unbelievable but this is entertainment. I thought the trip back home by the main character really brought nothing to the storyline and could have been left out. Although I enjoyed the book and was entertained I really hated the ending which is why I only gave the book a 3.

This is my first time reading a Lisa Scottoline book. I enjoyed it. She did a good job of pulling me into the story and making me want to read MORE...

The book jacket blurb tells the story: "Cate Fante is strong and smart and a Judge who hides a dark double life. Then a high profile case in her courtroom explodes into a shocking murder-suicide, and it blasts her cover wide open. Overnight the tabloids tell her secrets, her boyfriend dumps her and her new career hangs in tatters. But Cate's troubles are only beginning. An enemy no one anticipated sends her running for her life - embarking on a journey that begins in the mystery of her ownchildhood where she first learned to lie. She'll have to fight her way back to the truth, or die trying."

One of Scottoline's earlier books. The first couple of chapters were tough to get hold of, but I'm glad I hung in there. Solid book and good story. Interesting to see the world of supreme court justice through the eyes of a woman.

This wasn't my favorite Scottoline book, but once I got into it I enjoyed it more. She is really good at these legal mysteries and she lives in Philly so you know the settings are accurate.
