Homicide detective Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels tangles with a psycno bent on poisoning Chicago. A good, engrossing story, but with few holes...the killer's knowledge to use the smorgasboard of poisons he employs is never fully explained. He seems to have extensive knowledge of horticulture, animal breeding (especially snails), poison extraction and synthesis, and bomb making on the order of Timothy McVeigh. If you are a reader of cozy mysteries, be warned that this police procedural includes graphic descriptions of the perpetrator's crimes, even though the book is laced with humor.

This book was terrific. It kept me thoroughly occupied while stuck in an airport. I had to get all of them so I could read the whole series.

Fourth book in the Jack Daniels series. This time Jack is up against a psycho dtermined to poison as many people as possible. Fast and furious. Action packed. JA Konrath never disappoints! 5 stars
Love the titles of J.A. Konrath's books...also love the main character who's name is Jacqueline (Jack) Daniels. Very creative.
Another A plus mystery in the Jack Daniels series. Jack is still reeling from her last brush with death so things are a little different with boyfriend Latham, partner Herb, and the new superintendent. X Partner McGlade keeps popping up in her life & there's a new threat to the city. Add in a new "hottie" FBI agent that makes Jack question her commitment to Latham and a very toxic new threat to the city. It takes all of Jack's skills to contain the threat to her city & livelihood!

Very good book! Fourth book in the series. Be sure to read Whiskey Sour first, Bloody Mary next, then Rusty Nail. I felt like the book was well written and entertaining! The main character is a female, and although the book is written by a man it seems to work well. Action packed and full of murder and danger, it is also full of oneliners and other comedy. Some say graphic but I don't think it is. QUICK to read. Flows smoothly and makes you want to pick up the next so you can get right back into the adventure. Best read in order so you understand the characters, the relationships and the past casts and situations referred to. Be sure to pick up Fuzzy Navel next.
Found this series by accident but will keep up with Jack Daniels, lady cop! Good series but there are spots that it seems to drag a little but it continues on and has a lot of action.
first Konrath book I read. Loved it.
Love this series. The heroine Jack Daniels is normally her own worst enemy. Its best to read the series in order.
Jack has a private life that is quite a mess - she is a calamity Jane in that area. On the other hand, in her law enforcement career she is a cracker jack - no pun intended. This gets pretty edgy with the violence, but there is also humor as well. Most interesting is that the author is a man and he does his female protagonist very well. Excellent mystery/thriller. One of my new favorite series.
