Well written true story about a mothers hoarding. I had trouble putting this book down and had to force myself to back off on my normal rapid reading since I wanted to savor it!
I truly enjoyed Jessie sharing such an intimate part of her life with others. Loved that she included so many facts about what makes someone hoard and then to see it in her mothers behaviour, helped me to understand my brother (who is a hoarder) somewhat better. There is one part of the book that had me in some discomfort, as you will find out when you read it. LOL
I think Jessie is a brave, strong woman and I really enjoyed this book. I'll be looking for more from this author.

Ms. Sholl shows great courage in sharing this book, her secrets, and herself. I thank her for that. The book was very well done, and easy to read. I recommend it to anyone touched by hoarding, as well as those who want to understand it.

This is one of the best books that I have read on how mental illness affects the whole family. I have been fascinated by watching hoarders on tv but this is even better. The author is the daughter of a hoarder and does a very good job telling her story.

Wow. This was a great book. It is entertaining, but it also was informative and sensitive. Jessie Sholl did a great job of expressing the frustrations of being a daughter of a hoarder, but also her struggles to maintain a relationship with her mother. I learned a lot!

It was different than I thought it was going to be. Although it did cover the hoarder and touch on the reason behind her illness, it was more about the daughter/author and how it impacted her and how she dealt with it. Either way, it was a fast read that I chose to complete and not abandon.

Interesting look into the life of Jessie Sholl and her Mother who is a hoarder. Jessie Sholl does a lot of analyzing why things are the way they are and trying to come to terms with childhood. Sholl's Mother and Father both have heath scares. Jessie and her husband try and clean the house a couple of times and come down with bugs. I found this story to take over part of the book became repetitive and annoying.

This book is as much an autobiography of the author as it is the story of her mother, a hoarder. The mother was physically and emotionally abused as a child, and in turn abused her daughter as well. She continues to emotionally abuse her even in adulthood. Understandably, the author is full of frustration and resentment, yet her concern and love for her mother is palpable. Very interesting read! I did not read this book. It was given to me by a family member. Just wasn't something I would be interested in. I was told it was good.
