In a tale of love and chaos that goes from Canada to Cambodia, Kim Echlin writes of the binding connection of true love and its inability to overcome utter loss -- the loss of family, the loss of a child, the loss of a true love. Along the way she tells of a nation destroyed by hatred, mistrust, genocide and fear. The picture she paints is not always pretty or easy to take, but her spare, concise and clear writing provides a vivid image that will not easily rest in the mind of the reader. This is a compelling tale, told in exceptional prose, that simply will not be put down. Even after the final page has been read.
