I...was unimpressed with this book. I've liked other Graeme's, but this wasn't as good. The artwork was wonderful--except part of each picture was across the page boundaries and it hurt the image. They either needed to be bigger to cover easily both, or just a bit smaller to stay on one. In one case the dragon's head is missing, tucked into the binding! Some of the text was amusing, some was a bit too whiny, but it wasn't enough to overcome the problems with the artwork.
A short volume, maybe the 2007 version comes out with more "information", this combines the great, detailed pictures with his usual adolescent writing (I sort of mean that as a compliment).
Rather thin volume (only 12 dragons listed, BUT WAIT! the author came out in 2007 with a revisited version, maybe there is more there!) The pictures are great, the writing spoofs the 19th century naturalists.
