Tried to read this. It was not the subject matter, it was the style (f you can call it that) that was too difficult to follow. It felt like random thoughts, memories, whatever, just strung together. It was plain too hard to follow. I've read A Rumor of War by Phil Caputo, it held me from the first word. This one didn't.

My son thoroughly enjoyed this book. John Le Carre called it "the best book I have ever read on men and war in our time." The author was a correspondent for Esquire when he went to Vietnam to cover the war in 1967. He pretty much roamed the country, writing about what he saw. It is an entirely eloquent piece of reporting, both on his own fears and ecperiences and on the war.

Sums up the very essence of the war. Possibly hte best about Vietnam.
