I loved this book! I enjoyed Harry Erskine's personality more in this novel than in the Manitou series, and the novel itself was far better. There wasn't a boring moment in it for me. I liked the first-person narrative by Erskine and the majority of this book was like a comic horror for me because of that. The Djinn surprised me with its level of gore at the very end which I should have expected with Masterton, but I thought the rest of the book was pretty mild. The description of the Djinn coming out of the bottle at the end with a big head reminded me of a similar scene in the movie Beetlejuice, where Michael Keaton's gigantic head is on a snake, lol! However, my laughter ceased shortly after because the descriptions became extremely violent, gory, and vivid.
