This book gave me a different perspective concerning dogs. It is based partially on scientific analysis, but to me based more on the author's perception of his own dogs. It is an interesting read and gave me some 'food for thought' concerning my own dogs.

If you love dogs you must read this book! It is a fantastic look at the emotions dogs have and share with their human companions. I have rarely read a book that has touched me so deeply!

From a psychological perspective, this is quite an interesting book.
The author was a well known & quite controversial psychiatrist [somewhat succinctly] rejected Freudian thinking.
I found DOGS........................Love to be unique because one can really see another aspect of this psychiatrist.
I think anyone who loves dogs will get a kick out of this book.

Great book; Even though the author has advanced degrees, he keeps it rather unscientific, sometimes arguing both sides of the same issue (maybe that is being scientific, after all?). He talks a lot about his own dogs, who he takes on walks 5 times a day.

Very good, but not as "science minded" as Why Elephants Weep and Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home.

This was an interesting book. I really enjoyed the many anecdotes about not only dogs, but wild animals as well. Though I think the most surprising thing was the three dogs he adopted were not really raised as puppies, for the most part. All in all, a fascinating book with a lot of fun stories to share.

too technical. I was looking for more of a book about how he responded to his dogs and how they respond to him emotionally. more in a loving way and i didn't really see it. way too techincal for what I was looking for.
