I have personally loved the humor infused in Lorena McCourtney's novels. And Dolled Up to Die was no different. I was really hoping things didn't get creepy but I needn't have worried:) This was totally funny and good for your health. You know as in a merry heart.
If you have read the previous book in the series you will know many of the characters. This is a book that I would urge you to read in order, mainly so you know who the people are. This one opens with Cate getting a call that three people have been shot but the police aren't going out to check. And anyone who knows Cate knows that she can't resist a mystery. So off she goes only to arrive and find that they are dolls? Life-like dolls but still dolls. And so the mystery jumps off from there. You have sweet Jo-Jo, smart and handsome Mitch, mature and funny Donna and let's not forget Octavia. You can't forget a cat who adds such spark to the novel!
Overall I really loved this book. You have humor and mystery all rolled into one book that keeps you reading through to the end. Cate makes for a good assistant PI even though there were times I wanted to smack her and show her something. Sometimes she is a bit dense:) One part I really liked was where Mitch is witnessing to Celeste. It isn't pushy but it definitely gets a good Christian witness in there. This is something I would feel comfortable giving to anybody and would almost label it as a cozy mystery. Excellent and can't wait for the next book in the series!
