Lisa Newberry is experiencing extreme depression. She suffered several miscarriages, the tragic accidental death of her husband and then she suffered an attack. She was not mentally able to handle all these things that happened in her life so she agreed to become a test subject for an experimental chip to be implanted in her brain. The chip would eliminate all depression. She didn't know whether she would get the placebo or the real chip. At first life was grand for her. Depression all gone. Life couldn't get any better. She felt she had a new lease on life and could breathe again and then the nightmares began. Glimpses of a horrific murder would invade her thoughts. It was as if she were seeing the murder happening through her own eyes.

Brandilyn Collins is known for her seatbelt suspense novels and this one was no exception. This one kept me on edge the whole time. This novel had an Alfred Hitchcock flair to it. It kept me in suspense wanting to know what was going to happen next. I don't want to give too much of the plot away to spoil it for the reader but just to say you will not be disappointed. I did not see the ending happening the way it did.

Thanks to Netgalley and B&H Publishing group for providing me this book to review. No payment was received for this review. This book will be released October 2012.

When I saw this book come out by Brandilyn Collins, I couldn't wait to read it and I was not disappointed! I had it read in no time!!

Widow Lisa Newberry can no longer handle her depressing life. Since her husband passed away, several miscarriages, and her own brush with death, she constantly suffers from memories of these things which has led to her depression. She doesn't have many friends and stays mostly to herself. Her relationship with her mother is at best strained.

In comes Cognoscenti . . . a company that implants chips in people's brains to help take away the depression and bad memories. It was created to help those suffering with depression.

Lisa, in such a desperate state signs up to be part of the Cognoscenti experiment and get a chip in her brain to help with her depression. She is desperate to have a normal life - one that is not pervaded with nightmares, depression, and horrible memories plaguing her. The one catch is that the chip could be a placebo chip - one that is blank and won't actually work.

After she gets the chip implanted, she feels so much better and the depression is gone. In its' place unfortunately are vivid details of the death of a young lady. As the days go, she sees more and more details until she can't handle it any longer.

Desperate to try to find the body of the lady that was killed, Lisa and her mother work together to figure out who the lady is and what the dreams are all about.

This book is an excellent, edge-of-the-seat book. It will keep your attention throughout it. I really enjoyed seeing how Lisa came to the realization that God was with her all along and loved her. I also loved how Lisa saw her relationship with her mother healed. I would definitely recommend this book!!
