Nice local color and interesting characters. A bit slow moving at times

Kind of a fun mystery jaunt with romantic overtones.

I like this series, though like some of the other reviewers I found books 1 and 2 to both drag at places.

I like that the author includes a map and cast of characters at the beginning of the book so you can look back at it.

Great characters and setting, and good mysteries!

Weymouth Island, Maine is a picture-perfect resort town...until it has a brush with murder.

One of the most boring books I have ever waded through. Could not get attached to any of the characters. Just to scattered in thoughts and actions.

If you enjoy "Murder She Wrote", you'll simply be wild about this book.

Sarah Deane, the English teacher cum amateur detective, meets her old friend, Dr. Alex McKenzie, for a summer holiday on a small island off the coast of Maine. But instead of rest, relaxation, and possible romance, Sarah and Alex find the dead body of Nate Harwood, a cantankerous local artist and neighbor, caught in a tangled offshore fish trap. This discovery prompts them to investigate a series of unsolved art thefts and the highly suspicious drowning "accident" of an elderly couple vacationing from Missouri.

Faced with a large cast of possible murderers, each with a particular reason for wanting the obnoxious Nate gone for good, Sarah and Alex attempt to determine whether they've stumbled onto several connected murders--or simply the evidence of a rising crime rate along the Maine coast.

From back of book:

Working on the Godding Museum's annual local artist show is the perfect way for English teacher Sarah Deane to earn a-few dollars, relax in the sun and sea air of coastal Maine, and spend the summer with her boyfriend, Dr. Alex McKenzie.

But when Sarah and Alex discover the body of Nate Harwood, a cranky local artist, caught in an offshore fish trap, they know they'll have no vacation from amateur detecting until they catch his killer.

Could his death be related to the "accidental" drowning of two elderly tourists shortly after they had bought a painting from Prior's Gallery? Is one of the contestants in the museum show willing to go to any lengths to win? Or does someone have strong feelings against seascapes?

Sarah and Alex canvass Weymouth Island trying to draw a clearer picture of the killer lurking amoung them--before they find the next victim.
