Downton Tabby is the seventh installment in the Pampered Pets Mystery series. This series is co-written by authors Mary Lee Woods and Anita Carter who use the pen name Sparkle Abbey as a tribute to their respective pets. The authors each take turns writing the series which revolves around two main characters, Caroline "Caro" Lamont and Melinda Langston.
Caroline is a well known and respected animal therapist and Melinda is the owner of the exclusive Bow Wow Boutique. The girls are cousins who have been feuding for the entire series over their deceased Grandmother's brooch. While the girls do mention each other in the books and are constantly stealing the brooch back and forth from each other they have yet to actually appear together.
Downtown Tabby features Caro. She agrees to watch her office mate Graham Cash's Scottish Fold Tabby Cat, Queen Victoria while he goes to run a quick errand but she has no idea what's to come. When Cash fails to return to the office Caro has no choice but to pack up Toria and bring her back to Cash's house. Cash's car is in the driveway but nobody answers the door, Caro goes to investigate and finds Jake Wylie, Cash's business partner and roommate strangled to death and floating in the swimming pool.
Caro receives a cryptic phone call from the missing Cash and fears that her friend has been kidnapped. In an effort to find the killer and take the suspicion off of Cash, Caro stumbles into the confusing world of computers and computer apps. A suspicious acting neighbor and the strange behavior of Cash's girlfriend Heidi give Caro plenty to focus on in addition to her pet clients.
Just when Caro's relationship with the hunky, Sam Gallanos is getting serious her obnoxious ex-husband Geoffrey comes back to town. Caro makes it clear to Geoffrey that she has no interest in taking him back but he starts to follow her around and show up at her meetings with clients.
Regular characters Detective Malone, Koffee Klatch barista and part time receptionist Verdi and senior sidekick Betty Foxx are back. A quick read and fun addition to the series.
