This omnibus compiles the first 3 stories of McCaffrey's sweeping Pern series: Dragonflight, Dragonquest and The White Dragon. Each is an excellent story in its own respect and together they make for a great introduction or refresher to the world of Pern.
I've been reading this series since I was 11 years-old. Since my 15 year-old copy of these books was literally falling apart from being read so often, I was thrilled to see the trilogy copy available through paperback swap. I love these books, and would recommend them to anyone asking.
If you know someone who has NEVER read any fantasy, this is the volume to start them out---and get them hooked! This large volume has the first 3 novels about Pern, settled by humans some time in the future. Pern is a lovely, agrarian planet---except for one tiny little problem. Periodically, some space-bourne debris falls on the world, and eats everything it lands on! Oops, not enough research before they landed, right? But the people are on the new world to stay now, and they have to make the best of the situation. The ways in which they work around the difficulties make a fine saga.
