Book 2 of the Dukes trilogy was an enjoyable read with a lot of elements I like in a good book - the handsome hero Duke has a bad-seed identical twin brother and a lying conniving ex-lover who are partners in a scam to steal the life savings of the smart and beautiful heroine. The H/H team up to get her money back and to expose the dastardly duo for the frauds they are. They end up falling in love along the way. This book is much, much better than Book 1 Duke of Sin. I'm looking forward to reading Colin's story, Book 3 The Duke's Discretion.

Lots of good twists in this fun regency romance.

The books in this trilogy are not at all as frivolous and light-hearted as the silly titles suggest. The characters are complex and flawed and the story is not your typical regency.

I found the details about perfume making a bit yawn-inducing. Lisa Kleypas has a book in her Wallflowers series that also includes a lot of information about scent, but it tied better to the story, it wasn't just information for it's own sake. I felt like Ashworth spent a lot of time informing us about things that weren't particularly important to the exposition of the characters or situation.

While reading the book, I felt as if I liked the characters for the most part, but I read the book three days ago and cannot remember much about them now. I think that suggests neither the story nor the characters are particularly enduring.

Enjoyed that this actually took place more in France than England for a little change up. Also throughout the book you never know exactly what the scandal was that the Duke went through because of his brother Edmund. It is quite a shocker at the ending. The perfume aspect for Lady Olivia was refreshing & different for a leading lady.

It was a case of mistaken identity... how was Lady Olivia Shea to know that the cad she married, who had deserted her on her wedding night after cleaning out her inheritance had a twin?

Samson Carlisle, Duke of Durham has his own reasons for wanting to locate his dastardly twinso he agrees to help Lady Olivia in her quest to regain her inheritance.

Set in the world of Frances premier perfumeries past scandals arise, old nemesis cross paths, doubt and suspicion run rampant. In the midst two people fall in love.

Adele Ashworth sets a fine backdrop and forms a story where love conquers all.

Not my favorite Ashworth. The chemestry between the H/H was good, and I enjoyed the book until the suspense plot wound down. Then I felt like the melodrama was a bit much.
I'll still read the next in this series however, because I usually enjoy her characters so much.

A wife in name only, Lady Olivia Shea has returned to London in a rage, determined to confront her new husband, who vanished months ago with her inheritance on their wedding night. Yet this hauntingly familiar man who stands before her--this face and form she adores--is not her deceiving Edmund but the blackguard's twin brother, Samson Carlisle, Duke of Durham. Samson knows of his sibling penchant for perfidy and he graciously offers to help the exquisite Olivia loacte missing rogue and recover her stolen fortune.

But Olivia fears that accompanying this mysterious dangerous eminently desirable man would be courting the most devastating sort of scandal, especially since it is now Samson's arms she aches to feel surrounding her, and his kiss she longs to taste.

Not as good as "Duke of Sin". I found it a little boring in places.

Newest by Adele Ashworth is the second in her Duke series. While not as enthralling as the Duke of Sin, her clever heroine and rich portrayal of the French Perfume industry and regency society in France help mold this work into a pleasant read.

The scandalously handsome Samson Carlisle is not the deceiving nobleman Lady Olivia was searching for...but he's the lover she fervently desires.

He stands apart from other men-adark, tall, breathtaking figure of seductive masculinity. With a smile, he can topple the defenses of even the most proper maiden. And with a single whisper, she will be his.
