Hope and Jackie are identical twins. They have opposite personalities. Jackie is a workaholic and very into fitness and fashion. Hope is quieter and likes her downtime. Jackie is a wedding planner. Hope a teacher. Jackie is engaged to someone she doesn't know too well; it's a modern day marriage of convenience. Jackie is planning a big wedding and is delayed in meeting Brent's family, so Hope goes and is assumed to be Jackie.
At first Hope's pretending to be Jackie was because of some members of the family looking down at her (Jackie) for putting her job first. But this went on for way too long (most of the book). I also had a hard time believing Brent didn't realize the difference. I will give the family a pass since this was the first time many had met her and/or the first time they had spent an extended period of time together.
Anyway, Hope does NOT approve of their business arrangement and sets out to make Brent fall in love with Jackie. This being a romance, Brent does fall for Hope (as Jackie) and vice versa. Hope's deception for glossed over and forgiven way too fast and easily. I usually like the mistake identity trope, but this did not work for me.
