Fascinating story of early New Amsterdam as it becomes New York. Mystery and love. Conflicts with religion, ethnic background.....not much has changed. This is a historical mystery. I read it after I read the Dutchman's Dilemma, which I enjoyed even more. It is a good read and fun to see the origination of New York street names.
