This book wasn't nearly as good as other similar math books I've read (for instance, "Prime Obsession" and "Fermat's Enigma"). I found myself skipping paragraphs at a time because there was little to hold my interest -- Maor's writing lacks the suspense and "aha!" moments that other (better) math biography books have. I was hoping the story would be more of a gradual history of "e", with breakthoughs and such, but instead it seemed to be more of a smattering of "e" trivia, with little to tie it all together.
