Earth Day is all about doing something nice for our environment or improving our everyday lives to reduce our carbon footprint.

For this swap we will exchange a gift that is Earth friendly.

There are several ways to look for your gift.

It can be from any of these catagories...

  • Select a gift that is made from recycled materials.
  • Select a gift that is reusable and can replace products that are usually disposable.
  • Select a gift that saves energy when used.
  • Select a gift that is recyclable and replaces everyday items that were not recyclable.
  • Select a gift that is earth friendly.

Please keep your gift under $10. Remember that you may receive an item that costs less than the item you sent or you could receive a give you may not want to use.

Matches will be made randomly and you may not be receiving from the same member you mailed to. Please post here when you've mailed your item. Delivery confirmation is encouraged, but not required. Please post again when you've received your item. We all want to hear about your gift.

To sign up for this swap, just send me your address by April 5th. I will send out addresses on April 6th.

Mail by date: April 13th

Receive by Earth day -  April 22nd

Feel free to share your Earth Friendly Ideas in a post here up until April 20th.

I have a few ideas to share.

1) Someone on PBS told me about reusable paper towels a few years ago when covid shortages made it hard to get bulk paper goods  -- they are marigold yellow ( I didn't have a color choice when I ordered) and come on a roll just like paper towels but are more like felt and can be washed on gentle cycle to reuse and hung to air dry.
2) middle daughter gave us some products one Christmas from the Blueland CO which reduces use of plastic bottles for cleaners and handsoap. Products come in tablet form. Some you mix with water like the handsoap ones. The toilet cleaner tabs are great -- I use them as first step in toilet cleaning, they dissolve and foam for 5 mins then you simply use your toilet brush-- handy to use as a short recleaning step for between full cleanings. Plenty of other options I haven't tried yet.
3) Please be warned that pod type cleaners for laundry and dishwashers were announced last week to add dangerous micro-plastics to our water system that then can end up in our drinking water. I never switched to pods for anything and now am glad I didn't.

Looks like we have a daring, delightful, delectable, dozen!

Last call before we match up and do a little shopping.

I have closed and put our matches up top using a random generator.

You will NOT be sending to the person that is sending to you, so look at it carefully.

I will get 1 address to each of you by the end of today.

When that is done, I will send out the whole list so you have the option to send Earth Day wishes to anyone (or everyone) on the list.
