I had never read anything by Michael Connelly until now, but after reading this book of his hero detective, Harry Bosch, I am ready to go back and look for others of this character. A fast pace murder mystery that has you guessing not only of who the murderer might be, but also who in the professionla ranks might be involved. A great story, and one I couldn't put down. One of the fastest reads I ever did.
Harry Bosch is a believable LA detective. A man confesses to a murder that has haunted Harry for over a decade. The confessor is not Harry's prime suspect, leading him to worry about his instincts.

I loved it, it's a lot like the Poet. But if you're waiting for a wiser, more patient Harry Bosch who has learned his life's lessons about getting along with people and his co-workers, you should keep waiting.

LAPD Detective Harry Bosch keeps you at the edge of suspense thanks to the talents of his creator Michael Connelly. Be sure you have lots of time to sit and read once you start this novel - you won't want to put it down!

I happened to come along to Michael Connelly after picking this book up at the airport in preperation for a long flight. I made a great choice. This is a great mystery that keeps you in suspense from beginning to end. I live in the Los Angeles area and I enjoyed being able to follow the characters all around Los Angeles, having a perfect picture in my mind's eye exactly where each event was taking place. If you are a fan of Patricia Cornwell's earlier novels, chances are you will enjoy Michael Connelley.

"Echo Park" is an exciting, unpredictable story full of themes such as guilt, all-consuming passion for justice, betrayal and friendship. One of the better police novels I've read in a long time.

I can't get enough of Harry Bousch. if you are a combat veteran you'll love this guy!! "Everybody counts or no one counts" is his philosophy and he's not afraid to do what he believes is right.

It's good but not great. There's an interesting plot twist near the end however this book was not as suspenseful as I'd hoped it would be. This is the first book in the Harry Bosch series that I've read, not sure if I will read another.

If you are a Harry Bosch fan already, you will love this one. If you aren't, and you like detective mysteries - this book will really grab you. An excellent author with another excellent book - one that will keep you up all night until you can figure out who did it!

Topnotch, suspenseful and a compelling thriller! sMichael Connelly's books are always superior crime fiction.

Great Harry Bosch book that has wild, convoluted twists. Just when you think you have a handle on who is doing what, something else happens and your theory is shot to pieces. Great read.

Murder mystery, wonderful twists, hard to put the book down.
Follows the Connelly script: A rogue Bosch who spends as much time battling the establishment as he does the bad guys and a homicide investigation that is not what it seems. It works.

I agree that this is not Connelly's best work. Characters could use some more development and draw more empathy from the reader. Plot development is exemplary as always and keeps the reader engaged.
great series. This one kept me guessing until the end!
Harry Bosch is working the Cold Case Squad at LAPD, paired with his newest partner Kiz Rider. Haunted by a case from 20 years earlier, Harry is doing some side investigation when new evidence turns up in the case. This evidence seems to indicate that Harry and his former partner overlooked some crucial evidence that allowed the killer to go free and commit many more murders. This possibility leaves Harry close to a break down, and a questioning of his abilities as a police officer.
As usual Connelly gives us a wonderfully textured story of a man in crisis, and trying to maintain his equilibrium in a world gone topsy turvy. Full of surprises, yet not over the top, the novel delivers on many levels, and makes us like our flawed hero even more.

I really like Michael Connelly's books. He's one of my favorites.
Fast paced Harry Bosch!
My first Harry Bosch novel -- think I'll read more!
This is an continuing story of Dective Harry Bosch. Connelly keeps you guessing till the end. A very good read.
Harry Bosch learns his lesson, and becomes a kind, considerate, cooperate bureaucratic animal who doesn't rock the boat.......NOT!
A real page turner. This is the first Harry Bosch novel I've read and I look forward to reading more of Michael Connelly's books featuring this character.
Harry Bosch should be the poster boy for American police detectives. He works in LA and is the consummate professional. Every story (this is the 12th) reinforces the notion that Bosch was born to be a detective.
Thus, it is a shock to Bosch to find that he and his partner missed a clue in 1993 that allowed a serial killer to continue his awful murders. The serial killer murdered at least 9 more after 1993.
Midway through the book, the accused killer comments about feeding the dog. One of the things the perp learned while a ward of Los Angeles foster care system was that each of us has desires and limitations. Our character is determined by which of those competing limitations and desires we choose to feed. In other words, we all have choices; and the choices we make create our reality.
Connellys tightly constructed plot is amazing. It takes Harry Bosch time to get to the heart of the problem and he solves the case even though it costs him dearly.
My first story by Connelly was THE BLACK ICE; Ive been an avid fan ever since.

All Harry Bosch books are great. I now have my Hubby hooked after only one. Great Read!
This story keeps the reader guessing! There are so many twists and suspense, when you think you know "who done it" something else comes up to trip up that theory!
Michael Connelly keeps you glued to the book - you find yourself looking for excuses to continue reading!
Highly recommended!

It's Harry Bosch. Guaranteed to be a great read.
My first Michael Connelly novel and it was a terrific read. Looking forward to reading more of his stuff.
great book Bosh and Rachel work togeather quite a few twists and turns great writing. new just published this year.
Another great read by Connelly
Excellent, well-written book.
Working in the Open-Unsolved Unit gives Detective Harry Bosch a chance to look into an unsolved case where he was the lead investigator. Thirteen years ago, 22-year-old Marie Gest walked out of a grocery store and was never seen again. Her car was found in the garage of an apartment available for rent. The District Attorney has now contacted Harry about the case against Raynard Wait. Wait was found driving around Echo Park with two bodies in the back of his van. In hopes of not getting the death penalty, Wait has offered a deal to give up the whereabouts of several bodies, including Marie Gest. Harry doesn't like the idea of taking the death penalty off of the table, but wants to bring Marie's body back to her family.
I loved the idea of Harry working to solve one of his old cases. But I thought the first half of this book really dragged. It felt like Harry and his partner, Kiz, spent the first 200 pages reading the old files and deciding what questions they would ask Raynard Wait. Finally at the half way point this book got very interesting. I did end up figuring out the twist in this story, but still enjoyed it. My rating: 4 Stars.

Great Harry Bosch novel!
Great Harry Bosch story!!
You can never go wrong with a Michael Connelly book.
Another good Harry Bousch novel with many surprises.
The Harry Bosch series is a winner, and this book is no exception. It quickly became one of my favorites - once I started it, I was awake way into the night because I could not put it down. You don't have to read this series in any order; every story can stand by itself.
A sadder yet wiser Harry Bosch has finally settled down and has learned the bureaucratic lesson that in order to get along, you must go along......NOT!!!!!
This is another great story from Connelly with the character Harry Bosch going after a suspect in a case that has been unsolved for 13 years.
In this episode, Harry B. is in the LAPD unsolved cases unit, and there are developments related to a decades old case of a young woman's disappearance and the random capture of a serial killer. Good story; suspenseful in spots, and fast-moving action.
Another well crafted Harry Bosch book. Just discovered this series this year and am trying to catch up. I recommend the whole series to anyone who likes police proceedurals with an on-going character and good plotting.
Each Harry Bosch gets better than the one before it! Couldn't put this one down...full of twists, turns, excitement right to the end!
Excellent.
Harry Bosch, the LA detective, has retired once and returned to the force to investigate a long unsolved murder that continues to haunt him.
Great story! Another Bosch thriller. Loved it!
