Not Krentz' best but a good read. Plenty of fun scenes and complex characters.

Story is kind of modern Romeo and Juliet. Two feuding families being surprised by the straightlaced Hannah providing Rafe an alibi for murder (she's just telling the truth). His family is surprised that a Harte would help a Madinson and hers can't believe she was hanging out with him. Not much sparks then and they both leave town to pursue seperate lives but they have some interesting times when they both get back to town a few years later and start tracking the murderer. (And I loved the little asides with the Winston the schnauzer.)

This is the first book in a three-book trilogy that tells the story of the Hartes and the Madisons of Eclipse Bay, Oregon. It is filled with romance and family relationships. Eclipse Bay is a town on the rugged edge of the Oregon coast. It is a town filled with treacherous secrets and fierce rivalries. It involves the current generation of the Harte and Madison families--Hannah and Rafe. Find out if they hate each other as their parents and grandparents did or have a new surprising feeling for each other. A wonderful book!

I really liked this story! I'm excited that it's a series and that I get to follow these characters a little further. Both Rafe and Hannah are incredibly independent individuals and to see them come together was fun. Hannah is very naive which was a little annoying at times, but it still worked for her in this book.
The little bit of drama that the two were involved in gave the story something more than just a love story. Most of all, their honesty and determination carry them through the investigation of who killed a young girl 8 years ago, and that same determination brings them together. I suppose that the investigation into the death of Rafe's old girlfriend eight years prior was a little bit of a stretch. After 8 years, you wouldn't think that finding the killer would be possible, but Rafe and Hannah uncover the secrets and in the end bridge the gap between their families.
Overall, this was a quick easy read and very enjoyable. I'm really liking Krentz's stuff and look forward to several that she's got coming out!

Multimillion-selling author Jayne Ann Krentz weaves a classic tale of a rich girl and the town's bad boy who grows up to be very, very good. Eight years have passed since Hannah Harte laid eyes on Rafe Madison--eight years since Hannah risked her reputation by providing Rafe's alibi for a murder he did not commit. Drawn back together by a strange bequest, Hannah and Rafe must first try to figure out how to share their dreams for the old seaside manor they've inherited and then determine who's willing to try anything, even murder, to stop them. Hannah is astonished to find that the rebellious Rafe, who once loved living up to his family's unsavory reputation, has shed his bad boy ways and become quite a success. And Rafe is equally disturbed to realize that the naive girl he met on a beach one night long ago is all grown up--and how! The first in a new trilogy from perennial favorite Krentz is a tantalizing reminder of the attraction of opposites. Readers will be waiting with bated breath for the sequels
First of a triology.
