I ordered this one based 100% on my enjoyment of the Demon series (Jacob, Elijah, etc...).

Right away I had a bad feeling as there was a mini glossery in the front. It bugs me to have to decipher meanings & pronounciations while I'm reading. The occasional endearment is okay, especially when it is obvious what it means, but I truly had to flip back once to look something up because I didn't know what the heck it meant.

I also found myself skimming a whole lot of sex scenes. Way more than I found in the Demon series. The story would have been just as good, perhaps better, with at least 10-15 less pages of sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, some of it truly had a purpose - to explain about the 'Dweller culture, but a lot of it was just gratuitous.

All in all, it was an interesting story. The 'Dwellers live in a completely different type of world than the Demons & Vampires with various 'Scapes' (dreamscape, nightscape, realscape, etc...) so there are a lot of explanations & backstory. The author does a good job of keeping things moving even during these explanations so you don't feel bogged down with information.

I do think it is worth reading & will certainly read the next one to see what is going on with Ashla & Trace plus the other characters.
3 Stars from me.

This is the 1st in a new series set in the Nightwalker world, which I have enjoyed, but this one was a difficult book to get through. Shadowdwellers may be a breed of Nightwalker, but their politics and culture and physiology and everything about them is different and it was a lot to cram into one book and you're still left not really understanding things. The romance takes a back seat to the world building (that is somewhat clumsily done). I'm on the fence with this one, so I will probably read the next one to see if it improves.

I expected this book to be as good as all the other Demonwalker books that Frank had done but it really fell short. I normally start and finish a book in the same day. This one took me a week to get through. It just never captured my attention. However, the story it set up for the next book was good.

I really liked author's demon series - this is different but one of the demon characters does appear. I liked this book once I stopped expecting the other series to be tied closer to the new series. Looking forward to the next one!

I couldn't get into this book....I loved her previous series but this one is boring. I found that in creating this world she kinda left the characters hanging. I wished I could have found out the world through Ashla's eyes and slowly learned what was going on but instead I got pages and pages of explanation about things I didn't care about yet. I kept wondering "Where was Ashla?"

I biggest pet peeve was when a character asked a question we had to wait at least two pages to get it answered. By then, the whole conversation was forgotten. I believe this is my last book for this series but I hear she's coming out with another Nightwalker book so that's something to look forward to.

I loved this book and can't wait until her next installment. The story line was engaging and interesting. It was a bit different then her Nightwalker series but they make another appearance here. Totally enjoyable.

Can I just say I hate glossaries for books? First Page!!! UGH. I was so tempted to give this book away, but I am glad I started. After getting past the terminology (which wasn't as bad as I thought) the book heated up. Uber sexy!! I couldn't put it down! I think I found myself blushing. The story is OK. I loved the relationship between Trace and Ashla, but I hate the politics. I found myself skipping to get back to the juicy parts! On that note, it's only worth the read for the super hotties.

Ecstasy is the first book in a new spin-off series by Jacquelyn Frank. Ashla Townsend finds herself in a post apocalyptic world after she wakes up from a fatal car crash. She is the only living person until she finds two huge warrior men fighting one another in a department store. Trace, a shadowdweller is surprised that the beautiful human woman can see and hear him. In the shadow world no human should be able to. Strangely enough, Trace and Ashla form a unique connection even though they both may be in danger with a traitor among his people.

Ecstacy is my first Jacquelyn Frank novel. I found the book to be inconsistent at times. The first part of the book was fairly interesting and had my complete attention. As I continued reading, the pace would slow, pick up, slow down etc. It seemed that a lot of the book would be internal monologues from either Trace or Eden and that is when the pace would slow down for me. I liked it when the action was taking place. When that was going on I really liked the book. When Trace or Eden were overly thinking things and rambling on in their heads is when I would lose interest.

I liked the world that Jacquelyn Frank created. It was unique and interesting. I just wish she would have focused on it more than she did. I think that if there would have been less internal dialogue and more action, I would have enjoyed this book more than I did. I liked the characters, both Eden and Trace. I feel that I want to give Ms. Frank another try. I may go back and try one of her Nightwalker novels.

Ecstasy is the first book in a new series by Jacquelyn Frank. It is about the Shadowdweller race within the Nightwalker universe that was introduced in her first series. I admit this book has been on my TBR pile for a while now. I found the original Nightwalker series of books hit or miss, so although I was interested in reading this book, I wasn't jazzed up about it. Now that I have read it - I wish that I read it earlier! It was a great start to the series - great introduction to this new race of people and good character development that helped you be invested in the characters. It sets up the series nicely, and I look forward to reading the rest.

This is a great intro to the Shadowdwellers series. Ms. Frank takes us to a new level with these characters, in a world not seen before. Since so many books take us on the same tour, these are refreshing in a way that hasn't been seen before. The second book in the series will blow your mind, it's that sexy...but this book is tender and almost sweet to the extreme. Great read, great beginning to what I hope becomes more than a trilogy.

Ecstasy is a great book. Different than her other books, but I believe Ms. Frank has a winner in this series. I look forward to the next one coming.

In the first book of her new series Frank steps away from the characters developed in the Nightwalker series but not the general world. The Shadowdwellers are a race of Nightwalkers only recently emerged from a vicious clan war with interesting characters and lots of potential.

Unlike many of the other reviewers; this is my favorite of Frank's books so far most likely because bad guys and connecting plot arc in the Nightwalker books never really grabbed me.

Good start to a new series. Must say so far I like the nightwalker series better but I am looking forward to the next book to see if it gets better. It just felt like there could have been some more excitement in the book. It was a little flat for me. If you like this author then I would say to read this book.

Addicted from page one. I really enjoyed the character growth and the excellent sexual tension between the two. Highly recommend.

When I read the book description I thought this sounded very exciting. I couldn't wait to read the book. I was disappointed by my expectatoins. The liked the story, but it fell far short of its potential.

Jacquelyn Frank has created a unique world in which the Shadowdweller race exists. In addition, the story is hot and sexy. I'll definitely be looking for the rest of this series!
