I was prompted to read this book by an interview of the author I heard on NPR. She had written a leadership book based on the principles and example of Eleanor Roosevelt and felt that not running for president was one of Mrs. Roosevelt's few errors.

As an Eleanor buff, I wanted to experience a great "what if". Readers with a little historical literacy will best enjoy this book, as the lion's share (other than the actual candidacy of Mrs. R) is based in fact.

It's a bit slow to take off but once Eleanor commits to the campaign it rolls right along. Although the book was written in advance of the 2008 campaign, the parallels are amazing (top issues in 1952: Unpopular war, Health Care). I guess everything old is new again!
