Crowner John shocks us yet again with his independent nature. Can you believe you may feel some sympathy for Matilda in this story? A Medeival setting that is a scary window into some of our present woes in the world. How long can you hold a grudge? Not for as long as some of these characters!

I enjoyed the book. It always seems I get pulled into these book on Crowner, and have to read it leaving the other books I'm reading until later. I'd also love to make a comment about the ending, but that would reveal a spoiler about one of Crowner's enemies.
