At the young age of eight Elle Shaheen was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. With constant monitoring and treatment adjustments had to be made not only in Elle's life but everyone that is involved in her life. Stefany Shaheen does a wonderful job of inviting you and showing the struggles of these adjustments, very open and raw at times. During the road of learning to live with diabetes Stefany and Elle are told about medic alert dogs. Their decision to take a chance and get one changed the whole Shaheen family lives forever. Elle was paired with Coach. Coach shows Stefany how to trust and Elle how to live a little more carefree. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has diabetes or knows someone with it.
