I haven't actually read the book but it sounds like a pretty good read for around a 10 year old. Here is the summary from the back of the book . . .

"Meet Elsie Dinsmore, a lovely eight-year-old heiress who lives on a wealthy Southern plantation in the mid-1800's. Her mother is dead and she has never known her father. Living in her grandfather's home, sheoften finds herself feeling rejected, unloved, and misunderstood. Elsie is sustained by her deep Chrisitian faith and her hope to one day be loved by her father. But will Horace Dinsmore ever come home? Will he love her?

Elsie's Endless Waith is the first book in the Elsie Dinsmore: A Life of Faith Series. This captivating story of a young girl's faith, purity of heart, and simple Chrisitan devotion, became an instant American classic over a hundred years ago. Now, in this revised and updated, modern-language edition of the 1868 book by Martha Finley, a whole new generation of readers will meet one of the most beloved fictional heroines of all time."

In this book Elsie who is only 8 shows a stronger faith in God than many grown ups. She handles the harsh criticism of her family without becoming bitter or discouraged. She never loses hope in seeing her father whom she has never met.
Elsie books are much needed for todays young girls and those who want to live the Christian life. The inspire to be pure and strong and follow the Lord instead of the worldly rebellion so many of todays books promote. Not only do they encourage godly living but also teach history, and social customs of the 19th century.
Girls are inspired to have a closer walk with God. Worth the money and books every Christian mother that to encourage her daughter to live the Christian life will want these books for their girls. Timeless even though they were written in 1868.
