This is a very good book having lived in the Caribbean I found this a very accurate telling.

If you ever dreamed of takeing a year off and sailing from the northeast US to the islands south this will give you a good picture of what it is like. Author's husband is the sailor - she gets seasick and has no idea how to sail.
I enjoyed the book very much. Since I have lived in the Caribbean as well, although not aboard a sailboat, it was fun to read about life in the Caribbean from that perspective. I think they missed some of the great islands by staying too long in the Bahamas and Dominican Republic. But it was fun to read about their experiences anyway!

I enjoyed this book immensely. It has really stayed with me in the time since I've read it (over a year ago now). The author took two years and sailed around the Caribbean in a sailboat with her husband. Lots of great descriptions of the food she cooked and people she met. A really fun book to live vicariously through!

I'm not sure what I expected from this book, but I didn't enjoy it. I've visited the Caribbean and hoped this would be more of a diary of ports visited and accounts of beach days and sailing sunsets. What it is, is a lot of weather reports, sail boat jargon, recipes and stories about meeting fellow cruisers and island natives. It's written in a rather "matter of fact" format, without much humor or personal insight. I stopped reading it about half way through, so maybe it gets better at the end?
The macaroni and cheese recipe alone makes this book worthwhile. The get-away-from-it-all story is no fairy tale and the living aboard stories ring true.

I have really enjoyed this book. It is written in a gentle pace, about a couple who plan for seven years then sail from Canada to the Carribbean for 2 years. One of the couple is a seasoned sailor, the other recreational at best. Their exploration of their stopping points, as well as a few recipes of local foods are great. They paint a great picture of their adventures, though not all smooth sailing! A fast and enjoyable read.
