Second in the series, a stunningly sad book. However, it was meaningful and full of the grace of God. But do read Julia's Hope first.
I, personally, LOVE this author. Her books are remarkable. I would recommend any of her books to anyone. Grace and God's love are ribbons woven through the words and pages.

In Book Two of the Wortham Family Series, Leisha Kelly shares the triumphs and the sorrows of the Wortham and Hammond families. When times become dismal and the sun doesn't want to shine through, the Wortham and Hammond families pull together and with their belief in God, find joy in their everyday living.
Kept me reading and wanting to read on to find out what happens next. So similar to Karen Kingsbury's book series (First Born, Redemption, and Sunrise), kept you reading to find out more!
I am hoping Book Three of this series (Emma's Gift)to bring more information about the families and how they conquer life despite the Depression and lack of work for both families.

Loved it
I really enjoyed this book. It starts with a death and the struggle with the aftermath. It ends with hope and a hope of the future. Looking forward to reading the next book.
I enjoyed the author's first book, but this book had too much sadness in it. It was hard for me to relate to thefamily dynamics of George and his children. I finished the book, and the lasst part was much more hopeful than the first part.
2nd book in series! I could not put it down. I LOVE this series and can't wait to start the final book. Set during the depression, focuses on the love of God. Leisha Kelly is one my new favorite authors!!!
I've enjoyed all of the series of this books. Emma's Gift is the 2nd of three. The end of Kelly's books always justifies the deep sorrows and tragedies that incorporate the story line, which takes place in the great depression. Her characters are well established, and become "like family." A good read!
This book really touched home for me. My aunt and uncle, and thus my cousins, all remind me of the Hammond family. Loud, messy, and complicated, but ultimately a good lot. A very sad read, though. I think everyone can identify with the turbulent tragedies in this book that seem as if they'll never end. We've all had those times in life where it just seems like the trouble keeps piling on. But in the end there's always good and things tend to work out like they should and for the best. A touching read which I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to ordering the next book in the series.
Excellent!
I have enjoyed every book in this series. Reminds me of my mothers stories when she was young.
