This is some of the worst, stilted, juvenile writing that I have ever read. This book has no plot, the character development is laughable, and the dialogue and style of writing is deploreable. I love good erotica, and believe me, this is NOT it.

Words fail me. This book is bizarre and incredibly hilarious though I'm sure that's not what the author intended. This is what I would classify as sci-fi erotica.
What do I think of this book? The writing is poor. There is no plot. The sex scenes are repetitive. I've read better books than this.

The hero in the story is Zor who comes from Tryston, a planet far from Earth. He like the other males of his planet are over 7 feet tall and extremely muscular (think of professional wrestlers on TV). They also have the sex drive of someone who has taken an entire bottle of Viagra. They are very much alpha males who are possessive of their mates. The men are deeply possessive enough to kill you for touching their mates inappropriately. Zor happens to be the Emperor of his intergalatic system. He's looking for his soulmate who happens to be a human female on Earth so he comes here to capture her.

Everyone on the planet Tryston is extremely liberal with their sexuality. They have no problems having sex in front of each other and in multiple ways although thankfully none of this happens in front of children as far as I could tell. All the sex is between a man and woman or a man and multiple women. There is no M/M sex. I had to treat this book as pure fantasy because if you take it too seriously the subjugation of women and their status in this society will get to you.

Besides all the sex, there are also dinosaurs, floating tables, an orgy or two, aliens who have no faces, etc.

The Empress' New Clothes is the first book in Jaid Black's Trek Mi Q'an series. Kyra Summers is spending her vacation at a resort that specializes in stress relief and relaxation with her best friend Geris. She is completely clueless that meanwhile, in a galaxy far, far away, the Emperor of Trek Mi Q'an has learned that his queen shall be none other than Kyra Summers. Zor takes a trip to Earth to pick up his destined mate. He finds her outside the resort and whisks her away to his planet. There Kyra must learn the new customs of Zor's world and succumb to his passionate nature.

This book was a lot of fun. It's hokey and over-the-top, but it is also entertaining as all get out. So the theme is a fish out of water. Kyra is taken to another world, existing in another time. It's nothing at all what she is accustomed to and she must learn a whole new way of life. This is the part of the story that I was most interested in and found entertaining.

Since this is an erotic romance there is a lot of sex in this book. The customs on this particular world all seem to revolve around sex. I liked reading about the different customs, but after a while I was bored with the sex. It just seemed like the sex scenes became repetitive. Wash, rinse and repeat. Boooorrring. The entertainment for me came from Kyra finding out the hard way certain customs. That was always good for a laugh. Zor was completely clueless as to what Kyra would accept and not accept as a custom. I actually enjoyed reading this book, but it is no literary classic. If you like Sci-fi and enjoy a good laugh, then you might want to give this one a try.

This was probably the first erotic romance I read. It hooked me. Very different and unafraid to be hot. Futuristic, takes place in another world. It's not a take-off on the Emperor's New Clothes, btw. It could've been a little more fluidly written, but I was riveted nonetheless.

Even in naughty books, I expect enough of a plot that it would actually still be a decent story without the naughty bits. This book didn't hold to that. The plot in this one, such as it was, seemed to be an afterthought and wasn't well integrated with the naughty parts in a lot of places. The world-building was pretty good and the sex parts were steamy--too bad there wasn't much of a story to go with it.

A much better book by this author is Death Row: The Trilogy.

I read this one out of order. I wish I didn't because I'm certain I would've enjoyed this one as #1 in a series. I'm still a Jaid Black fan, but the plot is getting tiresome.
