A nice summer read set in England. I enjoyed this because it ended on a happy note. *smiles*
I have enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed her other books. She is a good read!
Virginia Keile's secret dream had always been to have a second chance at loving the tall, handsome Cornish farmer she had met - and foolishly lost - the summer she was a debutante. Now, ten years later, Virginia is twenty-seven years old and life has taught her a great many lessons. She had married a titled bachelor chosen by her mother, lived in a lonely marriage until her husband's accidental death, and had nearly lost her two children to her former mother-in-law and a bossy Nanny.
All Virginia wants now is to to take her daughter and son, return to picturesque Cornwall and rent a seaside cottage to help them recover. But her true love was also there, waiting, hoping and praying that this time Virginia would be strong enough to seize happiness and fill an empty house with love.
I did enjoy reading this book, however, I am beginning to find that Rosamunde Pilcher is just reworking the same plots. It may just be because I've read two books by the same author back to back, but in my opinion, Rosamunde Pilcher's plots tend to run along this similar theme: 'girl meets boy, they fall hopelessly in love, girl cruelly loses boy, girl marries the 'proper gentleman', girl somehow moves to Scotland, lives in an unhappy marriage for a certain amount of time, husband propitiously passes away and girl returns to live happily ever after with her one true love.'
I give this book an A! I think I will certainly read more by Rosamunde Pilcher in the future, but maybe not for a while yet.

Takes place in a seaside cottage in Cornwall. Love all of Pilcher's books and I am posting them reluctantly.
This is one of my favorite Pilcher novels. It is a short, but heart touching story
How the human spirit behaves in joy and sorrow.
Good old fashioned English romance.
This is a large print edition-one of Rosamunde Pilcher's great novels about life and love
Another Rosamunde Pilcher book that you cannot put down until finished. Lengthy descriptions but well worth reading because you can picture the people and places so easily and the characters become friends as their characters are drawn in words. The plot and story line in a Pilcher book as this one really hold your attention.
Okay, but very dated, and not exactly in a timeless way. :-)
This book is one of the older Rosamunde Pilcher books - 1973. It's a typical Pilcher read: Young widow with 2 children longs for a simpler life by the sea and reconnects with an old flame. I enjoyed it, but know what to expect by now when reading this author. It's a quick read and very pleasant. It's always like coming home a little when I read a book by Rosamunde Pilcher.
Another of Rosamunde Pilcher's romances set in Cornwell. Great stories.
Virginia Keile's secret dream was to have a second change at loving the tall, handsome Cornish farmer she had met - and foolishly lost - the summer she was a debutante. Life had taught her a great deal in twenty-seven years - about marrying a titled bachelor picked out by her mother, about a lonely marriage that ended in her husband's accidental death, about nearly losing her two children to her husband's mother and bossy Nanny. Now she had come back to picturesque Cornwall to rent a battered seaside cottage for her children and herself - and to discover if this time she could fill an empty house with love.
