As with Midnights Children, this is replete with mysticism, magic, and fantasy: a somewhat modern Arabian Nights.

I really had to slog through this book. Touted as a woman comes into her power, but I felt the main story was about the man who travels to the court of the King in a distant land. I was pretty lost so often, trying to write down the different names for what appeared to be the same people at different times in the book. I even took to the discussion questions and answers to see if there was more I missed and couldn't understand those!
