Well this series is over and I must say I'm sorry. I enjoyed it immensely; typical Stephen King in the third book. Creepy, eerie, disturbing but exciting at the same time. Great ending for the nutcase, but so sad for the rest.

5 stars from me.

The final book in King's Bill Hodges Trilogy and it really was a great conclusion to a very compelling series of books. This one continues where the first book, MR. MERCEDES, left off. Brady Hartsfield, the Mercedes killer, is in the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic in a coma after having his head smashed in with Bill Hodges slapper (a sock loaded with ball bearings) by Holly Gibney. This act by Gibney saved hundreds of kids who were in Hartsfield's path as part of his plan to blow up a concert they were attending. So is Brady really in a coma? It's five years later and he is awake even though he pretends to still be comatose. Bill Hodges knows he is faking it but is there any hope for recovery? And Brady has found a new way to wreck havoc and vengeance on his adversaries; he is able to use an outdated computer toy called a Zappit to reach into people's minds. So what is his ultimate plan and can he carry it off? Not if Bill Hodges and his crew, Holly Gibney and Jerome Robinson have anything to do with it.

I have really enjoyed this series by King. I decided to read them after seeing the first two seasons of the TV series that was derived from King's books. The second season of the TV series was based on END OF WATCH. It deviated quite a lot from King's book but the essence of the story was still there. I did enjoy the TV series but of course, the book, as usual, was better. Overall, a high recommendation for both. I'm sorry to see this series end but I know Holly Gibney shows up in some subsequent works by King including THE OUTSIDER, which I read and enjoyed a couple of years ago, and in IF IT BLEEDS, which I'm looking forward to reading...
