This was a wonderful but painful read for me. Approximately the first half of this book deals with life in a small Michigan town in the early 1900's. WWI is raging but life goes on. The characters in this book are engaging and very well developed. As the Spanish Influenza makes it's way around the world, one wonders if it will affect this lovely little town.

Since I knew very little about the effects of this pandemic, this was an education for me. I will not continue for fear of spoilers but suffice it to say that I loved this book and zipped through it in one day since I could hardly bring myself to put it down. This author definitely has a talent for bringing you right into the lives of her characters, the setting and the events. Highly recommended. 4.5 stars
