This book is a prequel to "The Warlock in Spite of Himself". More science fiction than fantasy, but a decent read.
Although not necessary to understanding the Warlock Series, it does enhance the other books with nuggets of background that make you say "Ah-HA!" A very enjoyable read in and of itself.
