Cathal MacNachton and Connall Macadie are cousins bound by far more than blood ties and the rugged Highland landscape their clan calls home. The unquenchable thirst that neither can tame. The only thing that can save their souls is marriage to Outsiders, mortals whose untainted blood will weaken the curse in their children and break the chains of fear that have made their clan a breed apart. Bridget Callan and Eva Caxton are the women who will shape the clan's destiny. Marriage to these strange and mysterious men rescues each of them from desperate circumstances and draws them into a web of danger, desire and intrigue. But Eva and Bridget refuse to be pawns in the battle that erupts as the future of the cursed clan hangs in the balance, a war that must be fought after the sun sets over the deep, still lochs. Whatever the outcome, they'll stand strong by their brooding warrior lairds, willing and able to face down their enemies and fulfill their desire for eternal love.

Good read. Different from most of the Highlander novels but still worth ordering! I liked Howell's story the best.

Good stories, though the heroines were rather accepting. The plot of each story was good, and though shorter, you weren't left feeling like they were too short.

I found the first story by Hanna Howell in the two-story book to be a bit predictable, but fun. There seemed to be more excuses for sex than real story development, but I know some people like that in a romance (nothing real graphic, just the usual romance-type hotness). I liked the second story more, which is by Lynsay Sands. It flowed very well and although predictable to a degree, it fit the heroine perfectly. Although one of the blurbs on the back calls it these stories 'vampire romances,' and the word vampire is even used in the second story, it seems to be more of a gimmick to sell the books than tell the stories. ALthough related to the family in the second story, the 'paranormal creatures' in the first story just do not seem like vampires at all. Still, the stories are entertaining and I'd recommend this book for light reading.

I thought it was a pretty good read. Sometimes it felt a little forced, but I liked it very well overall. Both of the stories beginings seemed a little slow, but once you got into them it was a gripping read.

I enjoyed this book. First time I have ever read Hannah Howell, but I love Lynsay Sands books so far. I enjoyed both stories in this book, the characters were very well written and were ones that you fall in love with.

The 1st story by Hannah Howell was great it drew me in and kept me reading and wanting more but when I got to the second story by Lynsay Sands, whose historical novels I dearly love, I felt let down. There was none of the humor that I look for in her stories and the the writing was just bland. Oh well I guess you can't like them all :o) For this reason this book only got 3 stars from me.

Typical highlander love story but really a pretty good read. It was a good book for a quick night of reading. I have enjoyed this series.

Two authors, both with lots of other books, wasted my time putting together this one book. I found the stories boring, because both of the women characters, well they were just lacking. Read it, then put it up for a trade. not a keeper.

Nightriders
I was a little worried if I would like this book, because the first story started out a little slow, which is sometimes not a good thing for a short story. Luckily, it picked up after only a few pages before I decided that it may not be worth my time reading and was thinking of just putting it down and not finishing it. I ended up really liking this story so I was glad I stuck with it since it was an enjoyable read even though some of the nastier characters were a little over-the-top.

The Highland Bride
After reading the first story, this one was easy to get into the groove of because it picks up with a laird who is a friend of one of the characters in the first story. I found it to be a well-done job on the connection of both stories because even though they are written by two different authors, the writing styles were so similar you aren't distracted by a story that doesn't flow in the same manner. Overall, great read.
