My Thoughts:
First let me say I love and adore Larissa. Shes a wonderful person. Second let me say she had me with the first Demonica book I read, from then on I was hooked to her writing. Now let me get to ETERNAL RIDERFirst it is the beginning of a new series, THE LORDS OF DELIVERANCE series, however it is connected to her DEMONICA SERIES. I can honestly say that you can read this series without reading the other, by honestly why would you want to? Afterall, Larissa wrote them. Now for the story itself. ETERNAL RIDER is one of those stories that as soon as I started the first page I forgot who wrote it, I forgot the things on my list that I needed to be doing, I was completely lost within this world and with these characters. I did NOT want to leave. And Ill say I started this book waiting at the doctor for my FIL and completely missed him coming out, had a woman sitting near me saying 3/4 times, miss isnt that your father, miss, miss FIL said she repeated it serveral times, he just laughed because he said it was like I was dazed when I finally looked up and noticed someone was talking to me. So yes I was lost within the world Larissa had created. These are characters that are flawed, tortured, have evil in them yes but are good as well. They are realistic even if they have paranormal aspects to them. I fell in love, how odd to say I LOVE WAR? Or I should say I LOVE ARES! We do get a visit with characters from the Demonica series so those of who loved those characters will be thrilled to see them again. Add to all these delicious characters we get a story that is fast-paced, engaging, and keeps you guessing. Honestly I worried up til the very end if wed really get a HEA out of this one. I just had no idea what to expect. It was a true EDGE OF YOUR SEAT read. Id highly recommend ETERNAL RIDER to any fan of paranormal, steamy, deeply engaging, fascinating, and so much more that I cant even explain it well reads. You wont be disappointed! Now go read the excerpt and be warned once you do, youll be dying to get your hands on this fabulous read! Thank you Larissa for writing a story that let me completely forget about the world around me and just be lost for a few hours(yes I finished this book in one day) in a world of delicious men, and strong women, even if they arent all human! Now how fast til we get the next book??? Must I wait???

I'm reviewing this book in its audiobook form.
I havent read the Demonica series by this author and Ive heard it is set in the same world as this new spinoff Lords of Deliverance series. Im thinking I probably should have read the 6.5 books in the Demonica series first but reading a series out of order seems to be what I do. Now I will be the first to admit that I am a person who is easily confused and during the first two hours of this audiobook reading I was lost and overwhelmed by the brutal avalanche of information dumped upon my tired brain. There is a glossary, tons of character introductions (and I do not kid) and an elaborate setup that boggles. But I stuck by it and restarted it no less than five times because everyone seems to love this author and Ive been told I give up too easily (and its probably true). And do you know what? It paid off in the end. Phew, that almost never happens!
Eternal Rider is narrated by Hilary Hubar who has a no nonsense way with her narration which suits the intensity of the book. Her manly-man characters are done very well but there are two characters, Ares and Arik, whose names and sexy growly, gravelly voices are so similar that I mistakenly thought they were the same person, adding to my continued confusion, until the book was nearly over! Hubers female voices are strong and pleasant to listen to and I could always tell Cara from Limos. Unfortunately, something is a wee bit off in the production here, either that or the narrator was whispering, because I had to rewind and turn up the volume numerous times because the volume would go way low and I couldnt make out the words.
Let me sum up the complicated setup for you, best as I understood it anyway. Eternal Rider is Aress story. Ares is one of four immortal siblings born out of a forbidden and unholy sexual tryst between sex demon Lilith and an angel who liked his drinky too much. The kiddos caused all sorts of trouble on earth and ended up being cursed and now they are The Four Horsemen. Yes, those four horsemen. They are bearers of the Apocalypse and each wear a seal that when broken releases their evil alter-ego and brings on the beginning of the End of Days. Ares is the God of War. Hes a tough guy, covered in armor that keeps his body and his emotions in check and whenever he walks in a room people get an urge to brawl. Soon after the story begins, the most charming brother has his seal broken and he transforms into Pestilence, bringing on the plagues and reveling in the death, the gore and the pain. Oh noes! Ares is worried because once a seal has broken they are all in danger of transforming into the worst version of themselves.
And then theres something about called an agimortus that protects the seals (methinks) and can only be transferred to a fallen angel. Pestilence needs his siblings to turn evil and thus most of the surviving fallen angels have gone over to the dark side to avoid being stuck with an agimortus after learning about the broken seal and rampage. Really, who can blame them? I know I wouldnt want a great big target for Pestilence on my ass. So somehow a human named Cara ends up with Aress agimortus engraved on her chest. As if that werent bad enough, she heals a wounded dog only to later discover the dog shes named Hal is a hellhound. And he has bonded with her out of gratitude. If he dies so does she and hes been taken prisoner and is being tortured. Ares tracks the agimortus to Cara and the two get embroiled in a race to save humanity all the while falling in lusty love.
From here it gets all adventure-filled and yummy and super sexy despite all of the gloom and the death. Cara and Ares are well developed and compatible couple who heat things up in a most believable and imaginative way. After the excruciatingly long setup I fell in love with the storytelling and am going to jump right into the next book. The ending with Cara and Ares and the resolution of the hellhound problem was pure perfection that warmed my cold heart and made get all gooey eyed. I couldnt have dreamed up a better ending if I tried.
Sheesh, my fingers are tired and this review is too long. If youve made it this far all I have left to say to you is read the book until the end no matter how it pains you. And I wont lie, it may pain you. Just trust me on this, it gets friggin fantastic. Paranormal romance does not get better than the last half of this book. It just doesnt.

A new series that links to the Demonica Series Ione adds more raw sensuality and passion.
The introduction of Reseph(Pestilence), Ares(War), Limos(Famine), and Thanatos(Death) aka the Four Horsemen is a brilliant story line and I look forward to future books.

First time reading a book by this author and really enjoyoed it. It wasn't very hard to just be submerged in this world and characters. Will be following this series as it continues. :)
I loved this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. At first I was worried because in the beginning you are constantly introduced to new characters, but I think she knew right when to stop. I really liked Ares too. He was a great hero. I didn't quite buy him as the warrior he was supposed to be though. But he was perfect as she wrote him.

For those who have read the previous series of Ione's about her demon and vampire heroes/heroines, this one is along similar lines, involving the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. While the characters have their interesting aspects, I found the concepts of who they are supposed to be as well as the issues involved to be confusing. Maybe you need to have some familiarity with who the Four Horseman are supposed to be in Christian lore - which I know little about. The Four are tied to the end of the world, and in this series, those events have apparently been put into motion. It is up to the Horseman to somehow prevent this disaster, while getting romantically involved in the process. The interaction is erotic and explicit, as well as romantic. I prefer the previous series as I think there are too many plot holes in this one, as well as confusion, but I recommens it as a fun read anyway.

Absolutely gobbled this book up!! Loved this new series opener, to the very last period. Great great stuff. So very excited about the Future of the Horsemen. I had tears, anger, sadness, happiness, hope and some hot lovin. Great stuff :)
I have to disagree with probably everyone else that wrote a review! First, let me say that I LOVED the others in the Demonica series by L. Ione. **spoiler** My biggest problem with this story is that our hero, Ares, a God is fated to a mortal {who than ends up becoming immortal.} In all the other books, our heroes had strong warrior women. That's my problem... you take the strongest immortal and fit him with a mere mortal. I wanted someone who was strong like our other extraordinary heroines of the Demonica series. I like it when the women are strong both physically and mentally and not just a soft hearted woman who can "tame the beast".

Just as fantastic as the Demonica series! Super fast reads. The beginning was a little difficult to muddle through, but worth the wait. Hot and steamy. Exciting! The story sucks you in. I had a hard time putting the book down.
I liked all the characters in the book and the interactions. Ione develops her characters well. I am an animal lover so I loved that aspect of this book. I work in the veterinary field, so I was immediately drawn to the lead character for obvious reasons. I enjoyed how that came into play later on in the book. The heroine was quite strong in her own way, and grew stronger as the book went on.
Don't shy away from this spin off series, it is well worth the read.

A fun, sexy book that is somewhat of a continuation of the Demonica series but could also easily be a part of Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld. They were so similar, I kept looking for characters from her series to pop up.
Eternal Rider doesn't deliver much new to the lexicon of demons, angels, and fallen angels, but the writing is solid and the characters sexy.

Wow....completely entranced with this book. It spins off from the Demonica series, so you know some of the players already. But this can be a stand-alone series. I suggest you read the Demonica series first to know everyone (and love them as I do) before jumping into this one. Larissa has a way with desciption, sexual tension, and emersing you in a world without description. I love Ares and Cara, what a great couple!!! For awhile you could never tell just how things would turn out between them, they just couldn't catch a break. But true love has a way of beating all the odds. Lots of characters in this one, each with their own story and personality, even the animals.
A MUST READ!! This is one that I would say you should rush out and read immediately.

I loved her demonica series. I could not get into this one. After reading 100 pages, I gave up. Too many characters to keep up with. It was very confusing. I just couldnt understand this book.
A bit syrupy sweet and campy. I put it down a few times swearing to never pick it up again but I did. I would not recommend it

I am a huge fan of Larissa Ione's work. The books that precede Lords make the story that much more interesting and enjoyable. The characters are engaging, exciting and very real - in that you love or hate each one with great passion. The love story is warm & fuzzy like a fairytale with the punch of your favorite action movie. Larissa does a great job of describing the people. I can see the details and color of the intricate tatoos and feel the edges of each piece of ornate jewelry. You will quickly be hooked.
loved it! now on to my next book! :)

Great read~! I was worried that this would be in a different time frame from the previous demon books and its not. Yay, and as always a keeper~!
I loved this book. Lots of twists and turns. I don't want to spoil it for others so I'm not giving any details other than to say characters from her Demonica series make an appearance.

This was my first book I've read from this author and I got to say they are awesome, I couldn't put it down.
Book did not grab me initially after reading 25-30pages. Since other series was excellent decided to try but was only able to get thru about 175pgs and just had to quit. Plot takes forever to develop and is not riveting but somewhat boring. Very disappointing.
