Kathleen Woodiwiss is my favorite historical romance author. And once again, she proves why. This book was so beautifully written, with the hateable protagonists and the wonderful love story that she's known for.

A lovely typical romace story of the time...beautiful girl to be married to horrible man to restore family honor/finaces...a strong and passionate hero...all the reasons we love a romance.

I really enjoyed this book. As usual she came up with a great romance read. Wonderfully strong characters and a couple of thoroughly despicable villians. I only wish the story could have been longer.

This is the first book I've read by her. A little predictable but then again, I've read quite a few Highland romances. I felt for the heroine early on, having gotten a raw deal which leads to the plot of this book. But the more I read, the more I saw her falling into the dreaded TSTL heroine, thinking only of herself and no one else's feelings. A solid C+ read. Could have been better but for the heroine's transition.

This was my first book by Kathleen Woodiwiss and it won't be the last! Abrielle is betrothed to a horrible man in order to save her family from ruin. Raven is a scotsman who can't keep his eyes off of Abrielle and vice versa. She is distrusts men's motives when it comes to getting married - she is convinced that men look for a big dowry and nothing else. The two main characters go through some major hoops and obstacles. The story is full of adventure and romantic tension. I look forward to reading some of the author's previous works.
This was indeed a very good book. I am sorry to hear about kathleene woodwiss death and I am very sad this will be the last book I can read from this wonderful writer.

I love her books. I just wish she would write faster.
Everything I hate in a romance...fake dialog, characters thrown together with no more chemistry than the fact that they are both gorgeous, some how always know what the other is thinking (ha, as if that was how it really works)--except of course when it is convenient to moving the plot along to have them completely misunderstand each other. I dispise the whole have sex even if she hates it because we have chemistry and somehow that turns into love. Really? Although I guess I've met a few people like that at the bar with the same wish... I could't force myself to finish this.
I couldn't wait to get this book, but when I did I was disappointed. It was not what I expected of a Woodiwiss book. Never could get into it. Didn't even finish it. The words were too flowery, the whole thing was just....too much!
I love her first few books but she seems to lose steam in the later ones. The Flame and the flower is my all time favorite. Everlasting was good, but just didn't have the "can't put it down" appeal of the earlier ones. Good light read.

Interesting book with a story progression different from typical romance.
I have read 7 of Kathleen Woodiwiss's books and have enjoyed all of them. She writes in great detail, but the story line puts you right into the story as if you were there. Her men always know how to keep their women. My favorite being The Wolf and the Dove. All of Ms Woodiwiss's books are still on my bookshelf! So very sorry she is no longer with us. Her fans will truly miss her wonderful stories.
I love Kathleen Woodiwiss' romances-- good pacing, fun reading.
