Doris Chan is a genius. She gives us a few basic patterns in this book and expands on them to create several different looks. There are sizes to fit just about anyone and she even gives instructions on how to adjust parts of the patterns to fit bodies that differ from the average measurement for that size. This book will allow you to create beautiful pieces with a minimum of effort. The best part is that they are all made from the top down so you can try them on as you create the garments for a perfect fit every time. The patterns take some getting used to because Ms. Chan uses a different pattern style than most of us are used to but after the first project, you will be able to easily follow her directions. The models used in Doris Chan's books are always beautiful but also look like someone that you would want to know. The expressions, posture, and attitude of the models show that these are real clothes that are intended for real women. She has never, to my knowledge, used a model that wasn't quite thin but that's okay...I'm just glad that she has included sizes beyond size large for the rest of us.
